Hi,
Which one would you choose: kelp or crushed hemp for adding extra texture to a bait next to CLO?

Probably both!
No more than an ounce of each.

Hi guys,
Thanks for that input.
Nick, why not more, if I may ask?
I want to add this mainly to add some nice flecks in my pale baits. I want to add 1 kilo of kelp and 1 kilo of hemp to 5 kilo of clo and then mix. And then add about 15-17,5 percent of that mix to my bait.

Both hemp and kelp between them will provide all the vitamins and minerals needed, and between them you don't want more than 3oz of 16oz in the base mix (or that percentage if you convert to kilos).
Even CLO I reckon you can get away with around 25% of a base mix.

Okay, good info. Was thinking about 2,5 percent to a kilo dry mix of both, so that would be around the same lines as you describe.
Thanks and a happy new year!

Two very different ingredients, Hemp is very oily and I don't like it as a ingredient in my powders, didn't think it mixed very well. Not tried Hemp expellor, that might be worth looking at.
Kelp is dry and I believe has a high vitamin content and of course is a natural source of dmpt albeit in very small quantities. I have used it at 5% and like it a lot.

Yep I agree there. Kelp offers vitamins minerals and salts. Hemp on its own is brilliant and hemp expeller makes a good additive in certain groundbaits. I would always use kelp in a boilie

Yes, I also have 15 percent maize meal. I was thinking about using 10 percent maize meal and 5 percent coarse maize semolina.

It's fairly course the BAF one but does have a nice smell to it. That bait rolls superb at 20% CLO

I have both and the Feedstim is even coarser. I actually used a sieve to sieve the biggest pieces out. But indeed, it's a great additive for leakage, binding, hardening and in my opinion is acts as soy meal in that it gives a nice texture/rollability to the dough.

I think I used the wrong word.
Here it's called coarse polenta, which is coarse ground maize.
And I would like to try it, to improve hardness of the bait (thus lowering the need for egg albumin) and for leakage and flecks/particles in the baits.

Just the Kelp for me too.
Could always add some whole & crushed black Rapeseeds for flecks?
