This gets ask a lot a you usually get the same answers.
I think like most lakes you'll have a long waiting list.

Lily fisheries have a few in the area you may get lucky and get a ticket on St Ives.

Got quite a few embryo lakes in the Cambridge area that your more than likely to get a ticket on now. Cawcutts in the a14 there is also a couple in Peterborough too mate. Earith lakes also . I'm fairly sure you would get a ticket in there straight away

Cawcutts is dreadful. Drive past it most days. Great if your idea of a nice session is relentless noise.
Never to my knowledge been a waiting list on Earith carp lakes run by Ian Jones. Present him with some cash and you're in. Ashmire and the other lakes may have waiting list. Personally wouldn't bother with either. Ashmire used to have loads of double swims which meant any T,D or H can drop in next to you (this may have changed since Ron passed away) and the other lakes.... I'll keep my own counsel but would advise research.

I contacted Earith Carp Lakes two weeks ago and was told they have closed the waiting list at the moment and to get back in touch in January; when they thought they would have a better idea on availability.
I did hear the same regarding waving some cash under his nose might speed things along

Didn't mean Martin Dawson trout and woodpecker meant a Ian Jones Earith Virginia , willows ect. Holme fen are doing a winter syndicate if. Hasn't been filled already by the other syndicate members .

Agreed. I fished Cawcutts for a number of years when it was a club water - seem to recall it was also a fiver on a day ticket. I bet the price has gone up a bit now. LOL. It has to be one of the noisiest waters I have ever fished, the traffic on the A14 is constant and don't get me started on all the litter that gets flung from cars and ends up on the bank.
In addition to the waters already named, a few of the clubs have some decent fishing and don't forget the rivers and drains. I've had a lot of carp from the Fens over the years - miles of water, most of it totally unfished. I shall say, no more

Cawcutts has changed a lot and with the embro stock now hitting over 40lb and growing I think people can handle a few cars going past.

I agree the stock is good but we are blessed with so many good secluded waters in Cambs with nice surroundings. That still provided good fish

I've fished farlows, smelly bank isn't adjacent to the M25 but I get you, tbh cawcutts is just as bad, even worse imo, the A14 runs the full length of the lake, from top end to bottom, literally yards from the south bank.
Agree though, the stock are coming on nicely.

If it was full of 50's you can still keep it. Thankfully I only day fished it. On the bank nearest the road you found yourself almost shouting to someone standing in front of you. Place was full of crays and there was a constant stream of litter falling down as well. Very strange choice of venue for them I thought. A bit of a **** hole really, although I will say that the perch were massive, I had several over 4, best was a 5.06, that was in 1996 when a club had it
