What's your best way to prepare tiger nuts?

Got stopped last week by the guard de peche for not having a night permit for the lakes I was on, luckily they were ok and just waited around while I bought the extra permit online.

I've still got a set of 3 Kevin Maddocks Exocet II rods, 13ft 3.5tc with the old shimano LC's on.
