Hey Guys,
After not being able to get the accurate weight of a fish yesterday, which last come out at 48lb.. I've decided I need to invest in a weighing tripod - gone are the days when i can lift the weigh sling and watch the Reubens.
Can anyone suggest one they use? It has to be a tripod, single arm weigh bars are banned. I've tried looking at a few online, mostly the Daiwa infinity weigh pod, and the NGT (Which seems ridiculously cheap?!).
My main concern is making sure it's solid, so I've ruled out anything with telescopic legs.
Any suggestions from actual use? It's a nightmare trying to gauge how sturdy something is from a photo.

Heard good things about the Cygnet ones, not sure if they have extending legs though?

Angling direct advanta weigh tripod their not showing any in stock on the website but one of their shops will have stock and they can get it sent from their give their mail order store a call in Norwich to find out what shops have them in stock I bought one from their Crayford store last month and they had 8 still in stock

Both models of the cygnet weigh tripods have adjustable legs but their still solid when legs are extended

The only one I have ever used is the Cygnet one and it is a sturdy piece of kit. Never owned one and the times I have used it has been provided by the fishery, which also suggest it is decent quality as most fisheries don't want to supply you with junk as it will endanger the stock and also constantly need replacing

Sabre weigh tripod is nice and cheap and rock solid. Has 2 piece elasticated leg system and comes in a nice carry bag.
For under £30 doubt you would get better. See below link with video

Exactly the same as the Fox version I believe , but cheaper. Wish I'd seen it before i bought mine. 😉

Got to agree with this, I have and use a cygnet one but my dad uses a saber one it seems much better and quicker to setup. A lot more sturdy aswell

The Sabre one is the same as the Daiwa one that I had and did not get on with it at all, especially on uneven ground plus the sling was always a Devil to hook up due to a fiddly hook.
I have gone with the Cygnet one and it is far superior and has had Cats well in excess of 100lb no bother.

I used the Nash one for years and it don't move or slip great bit of kit, only down side isn't didn't come with a bag so I bought a Shimano stink bag Asia's rubber and hear wearing and fits it perfectly
If you get the cygnet one make sure you get the continental as it comes with feet toe top it sinking on soft ground

I've had the cheap and cheerful Cygnet one for a few years. It's great- does the job fine. Even better if you remember to lock all of the legs!

I know the OP is not allowed to use one but I think a good quality weigh staff is the best compromise between. convenience, quality, value and functionality.
I have the original Cygnet and believe it ticks all those boxes

Been using the cygnet one for years, stable and fully adjustable for sloping banks. Even comes with pegs and sockets that I have never used.

Have you considered one of the pole adapters, like the Gardner Power lifter weigh bar, alot less to carry about than a dedicated tripod.
