We all know what happens. After being relieved of £13.99 the thing opens well for a couple of days and then fails to deploy. If you take them apart there are two weak points. The spring, which is dead easy to extract and the red switch on the nose. The spring must be available after market and red switch usually requires a simple spring replacement. Spomb repair kit; an easy UK manufacture and cheap repair/renovation. Less plastic in landfill. Can someone arrange this please?

Lol, I had the exact same thing when I purchased one for the first time recently, luckily I use the Tackle Box in Dartford so just take it out there and they go above and beyond as they have with anything I have purchased from there.
Your right though should literally cost pence for a spares but that's not the way to make money is it...

I must be very lucky, I've had the same spomb for a good few years now and never had any problems with it or needed to repair it

Likewise. I think I had one break (the spring snapped) a few years ago but short of cracking off they tend to last for ages imo.

lucky you two... the only spomb that lasted me more than one session without some sort of repair is the one that stays in the bag... how can such a faulty product stay on the market is beyond me...

I switched to the future fishing wolf spider spomb...so much better and far more robust, plus no weak swivels to use, tie leader or braid direct to it...
As said to many failures on standard spombs... Although I did make a couple of spares up out of all the broken ones I had 😁🤣

I've only ever needed to buy 5 or so, and they always last a couple of seasons - Spring is usually the bit that goes. You an actually keep using them without a spring if you wedge something at the tail end to keep tension on the clip.

FFS...I despair. Lets hope someone is reading this who can act upon the suggestion. On reflection, it will probably be priced to make it only just worth while financially.
If I put together a kit, and make it absolutely worth while, would you buy it?

And then do the legal battle with spomb because you don't have a license to produce parts for their products.

Never had this problem and I use them pretty regularly.

You might be a lawyer, but you're obviously not a businessman.
By the time you've taken off the cost for tooling, packaging, shipping, storage, distribution, and taxes you'll be making pennies on each ‘kit' There's not enough anglers in the UK for it to be even close to worthwhile.
Don't mean to p*ss on your bonfire, as I agree with the sentiment about disposing of less plastic.

There is a spomb repair kit the part number is DSM-MSP in the kit is the spring and swivel for the top and the red button and spring for the bottom the problem is its not on general sale i emailed fox a while back asking if i could buy a replacement spring for the top as one of mine had broke.
They sent me a kit free of charge , problem now i have a spring that has broke in my spare spomb.

Had mine snap yesterday, checked online and the repair kits are almost the cost of the spombs, so I bought a few Chinese copies from eBay. Job done.

Got through 7 this season, yeah 7. Some due to crack offs and others due to that crap spring that loves to snap or, my last one, the newly designed ones have a sleeve that rides up the bit where the swivel is mounted. Found this out to my dismay when I smashed out to wherever I was spombing, the line went slack and the spomb just sailed out miles into the drink. FFS, another trip to angling direct, No:6 spomb.
Thought I'd solved the sleeve problem by whipping 30lb mono up the shaft to stop the sleeve from riding up and loosing another, solved the problem, but last weekend the effin spring broke. Give me strength. If there is a god, like please, no more?
They are great for rinsing out a load of bait, by heck they fall apart quickly. Maybe I've been overloading it too much which could possibly be the reason the spring likes to snap, or they're just crap.
