Just seen a Facebook post saying the big Chertsey mirror ( 60lb plus ) has been found dead. Although this lake has been closed to fishing in the past few years. ( a select few have been allowed to fish it apparently ) Its still a shame when these big Girls Pass.

Yeah I saw this.
There are people that believe this fish did the record on a number of occasions on the quiet.
Either way, always a shame to see a biggun go.

An escapee from Thorpe Park many moons ago, and although the lake is shut to angling, I pass it weekly and still see the concessional lucky enough angler.

That video is of Littleton Yonny (which is also technically in the Chertsey area, rather than being the Chertsey lake as we know it as the comment implies).
Sad news regardless - i had a ticket when CEMEX first reopened it, despite the M3 being on one bank, i really enjoyed it there.

Technically, Littleton South is less than a mile away from the old Cemex Chertsey, which means the area has lost a coule of units in the last two weeks
I also was on the cemex ticket and enjoyed my time on chertsey, shame it cannot be fished anymore

I believe the Chertsey fish was the only casualty. So not an oxygen crash. It was a Simmo apparently and they seem to live fast and die young. So was probably an age thing.
Just seen that Littleton vid. Tragic. Every water I've fished this year has had some sort of algal bloom on it. Even a local water to me that is spring fed and like tap water has suffered and had a near miss with the fish stocks.

A few replies suggesting that the lake was poisoned because eels can live out of water. This is not true, one lake local to me had an oxygen crash two weeks ago, the eels were among the casualties.
I presume eels can live out of water as there is oxygen in the air or the water in damp grass for example, in a lake with an oxygen crash there isn't any oxygen anywhere and they can't or don't get out.

RIP I caught this fish at 52.12lbs 10 years ago, loved that lake too.

Seen the same myself quite a few years ago now, slithering out of the water, across the ground and dropping into a nearby feeder stream
