I need a quick shelter to throw over my bed on single over nighters. I've already got a bivvy for longer sessions. I've got a mk1 fast and light that I've been using, but for the last few times I've used it in the rain I've ended up with a wet sleeping bag and gear, so I'm just gonna use it for day sessions which is all I really bought it for anyway.
So I'm not gonna spend silly money as I already have a lot of bases covered so I think I'm leaning towards a v2 tempest brolly, light weight, quick set up, decent cover for a single night and less than two hundred pound.
I know they've been out an age now, so my question is has anyone had any real issues with them after a while of ownership and given what I've described do you think they will fit the bill.
I know there's other options but I've got a load of vouchers for a tackle shop and they stock trakker so it makes sense to go for something they stock.

I've had a V2 brolly now for a couple of years and honestly can't fault it, it's well made and easy to put up and down.
If I was too upgrade it would be too a Trakker T-100 but that's just for the extra height and rear panels.

I bought a second hand V1 brolly off here last year. I love it, fits the bill for me perfectly. I've got a fast n lite and a couple of other bivvys. The only other one I use now is a 2 man when my daughter comes.
The only think I wish it had is vents for when it's boiling hot.

I'm not very tall so I'm not normally bothered by bivvy height, but lately my backs been a bit iffy and one of the things that's getting on my tits with the fast and light is stooping because of the centre boss.
Are these v2 brollys very low? So you can't sit up straight in one?

I had the V2 and swapped out for the 100T.
Difference is amazing.
The V2 was "okay" the 100T is superb.
Well worth the change.
I'm about 5'10" by the way.

Never seen the T version so I just watched the video for the 100t. In it Dean Macey is sitting in a V2 and his head is nearly hitting the roof, I thought oh no I'm not getting one of those. I've just discovered he's 6ft5, basically a fecking giant. I think the std version should be fine for me having watched that.

I am 6'1 and never had any issues with v1 or current v2 brolly. I use a flatliter bed.

Yeah, I've had the V2 for a few years now and had absolutely no problems. With the front panel on you can use it all year round. Nice and light with loads of room. One of the best bits of kit I've ever bought. Love it!

Very impressed with my tempest.
I did buy the esp Lo pro a few weeks ago but managed to return and get my money back.

I have the v2 brolly, and my mate has the 100t, if I had to choose between the 2 I would hands down get the 100t, higher (obviously) rear vents, and although the footprint is the same, it's bigger because the poles are straighter for longer, if that's makes sense, they don't curve in as quick,

Thank you for all your replies. Being a short arse I eventually went for the standard height and I can sit on my bedchair without my head hitting the roof. Result. With the added bonus that I don't keep hitting my head on the fast and light centre boss.
Quick question. The v2 brolly skull cap and the v2 composite brolly skull cap. Are they the same thing?

My advanced 100 skull cap fits my composite mb bivvy, I'm pretty sure most of the tempests are compatible apart from the brolly range.

Hi Wayne... If you decide to go the full hog with the V2 save your, ££ and buy the cyprinus generic options.. Quite a lot cheaper. Been using my V2 since Jan 19.. No complaints at all.

I went to Browns yesterday to get a v2 brolly but they were out of stock. But they had a V2 composite left which they did me a good deal on. Not understanding such things as tempests it didn't occur to me that the skull caps would be different as I thought a v2 brolly and v2 composite were the same thing except with different fronts.

Don't get hung up on skull caps. I've done over a hundred nights in my brolly and have never felt the need for one. If there's no wind and the rain is falling vertically you don't need one. If it is windy, to avoid the driving rain put the front panel up. Personally I think the skull cap is a gimmick.

I agree no skull cap for me, I fish all year round just with the brolly and mozzie mesh.

The skull cap does reduce condensation in the autumn and spring but also helps in very hot days keeping the bivy cooler.
So I leave it on all the time.
Just my opinion.

Mates of mine who use tempests have also told me that the peak really helps to stop rain coming in so they can leave the door open or letterbox more often.
I can live without one but if I can find one I will definitely get it. Especially if they help with condensation

I have had the V1 brolly from the day it came out. Its seen some extreme weather and I can honestly say its the best shelter I have ever owned.
Its only fault for me is its too low at the door. But I'm old and have a bad back from sitting on bedchair under brollies for the last forty years.
Going to get myself the 100T to replace my V1. Can anyone tell me. If my V1 groundsheet and skull cap will fit the 100T please?

Get a skullcap mate, they really do make a difference nomatter what others say. They give much better protection from rain, and stop condensation. Both make it far from a gimmick

Is it really worth buying the aquatex tempest ?? I have one now the v2 but it's faded really bad the poles are scratched at the joints. Had it about 3 or 4 years I try and look after it but that's the wear nd tear you get even looking after it

I can only give you my personal opinion after using the V1 Tempest brolly for about five years now. Which as you know is nylon. Still fully waterproof although I have never reproofed it. But do use a skull cap which I think helps massively having a double layer on the roof.
I was using an Aqua Aqualite before the Tempest. Which was Aquatex. I loved that shelter too but would not go back to it now. The nylon is just so much lighter and more robust and I don't think needs reproofing unlike aquatex.
Plus the added bonus its so much cheaper. It just ticks all the boxes for me.
I also do a lot of wildcamping with the dog. Tent manufacturers are streets ahead of the carp boys on nylon materials.

Ok so now I'm even more confused. Took the advice and looked on the cyprinus website. They list the following
Tempest composite MB skull cap
Tempest V2 composite skull cap

Yes the composite MB & v2 composite are the same size the MB Tempest composite just has a metal block and don't have anti twist poles where as the v2 composite has the plastic composite block and anti twist poles this is what the difference were when I rang trakkker Last year to find out

Thanks for the replys chaps. Messaged Trakker in the end about the DPM infill AD do for I think its there Tempest 100 series. Apparently it fits the V2 brolly if anyones interested. So I ordered one. Something a bit different.
