Hi all so many of you may already know Elstow Pits in bedfordshire is up at risk again due to being sold for back filling for HS2.

There is a new petition out to postpone this work due to the current covid crisis and the amount of government money the whole project will cost - is it really essential at the moment!!!

Agreed. Just tried to put it on totally carp Facebook page, admins declined as it is classed as a political post what is the world coming to!

The plan is Fill this in for 20 million. Then put another 20000 houses on it for 200 million! What about the water column you are f'ing up around Bedfordshire mrGov???

loads of houses are built on landfill or old rubbish tips. Just look for the methane gas venting pipes everywhere and subsidence monitors in every road.

All that tells me is that that arsebook group is a load of worthless ****. Of course its relevant, it's angling heritage, tell the admin to **** off, go out with a bang.
Too many butt wad groups on there with little idea of history.

Make sure you share it on social media, you'll get a lot of support purely because of the NHS etc it's not about angling per se as there is no mention of Elstow etc as it's not at the heart fo the petition, even though saving the Colne Valley pits etc would obviously be a nice side effect.

Cheers everyone - get sharing too. This is not just Elstow it is all lakes affected. Basically stop the HS2 in place of extra NHS funding.

I'm beginning to think i might be a jinx. Like most people I have a few waters that Ive always fancied fishing but for various reasons i never got round to it or organising getting onto the waiting list Etc. Three of them are now being screwed by HS2. Korda, Elstow and Savay.

If you are thinking of fishing a new water, you'd better check its not on my to do list first, cos if it is I'd get in there quickly if I were you.

Not been on Elstow since Stuart was there. Got to be twenty years now.
Anyone know if Len still has it.
What has happened to the fish if they are backfilling it ?
