In the process of purchasing some decent polarised sunglasses, so many available, and don't have an issue spending a little extra but it got me wondering if the lens colour makes a difference, as it's something I hadn't considered previously?
Do they all do the same thing? Is it just a fashion thing.

Purely for fishing I'd say brown, but your better off with multiple cheaper pairs for different conditions.
I prefer grey for general use, brown for fish spotting in bright light and yellow for spotting in low light

Appreciate the thought, but I have general wear (tarty) sunglasses I use already, just wanted an upgrade on some cheap ones that I currently use for fishing.

Ive had grey in the past and now yellow/amber.
I prefer the grey, its more like wearing normal sunglasses. I find the amber ones make everything such an odd colour it takes me a while to adjust.

I wear prescription varifocal glasses
I have always for the past 23 years had 2 pairs made one normal one polarised had both grey and amber/brown mid tint versions and some time ago when I had the first pair made in amber when I went fishing I took the old grey and the new amber glasses and tried fish spotting the same fish swapping the glasses over (the prescription had not changed I just fancied a change of frames )
to my eyes it was total chalk and cheese the clarity of the fish was so much easier to see with the amber/brown mid tint colour lens I could see the bottom much clearer too

Amber for the morning and evening, brown for the daytime, if it's sunny....or Oakley shallow waters which for me work in all light levels.

Amber is best for spotting fish. By far. Copper is best for all round use.

Im a bit colourblind. Red/green black/brown. So a browny coloured fish in greenish water is virtually impossible for me to see. I need very clear water or it needs to be very bright so there's loads on contrast. I find it easier if they are moving. If they are sitting in snags I have a mare seeing them. I'd love to find a coloured lens that would let me see a fish in the water like someone with normal vision.

If you did that regularly Gerry you'd find times when the grey would be better.
I find grey fatigue my eyes the least, brown the most, but I'll always have the three colours when fishing.
Never tried copper but I did have pink lenses for driving at night that were brilliant in low light, but looked stoopid as ****

Ever looked in to corrective glasses for that?
I know one bloke who was amazed when he got some but also know a couple who found them useless. Not sure if they are available polarised tho

I did wonder about those years ago, but at the time they were 100s of Pounds and the reviews were hit and miss. Must admit I've not really looked at them for years. It's funny when I take one of those blob test things where you have to see a number and I'm with a normal sighted person. The look of complete confusion on their faces as the pages turn and I'm “nope, nope, no, nah, er is it a 10??, nope” etc etc. I'm sure people think I'm on the wind up.

Definitely go for a glass lense,I have got Costa's but plastic lense.I have got Oakley with plastic lense and I have got the ridgemonkey glasses and they are the cheapest out the 3 but the clarity is far better

I have the dark bronze,they are quite heavy but feel very strong and well made.I would definitely buy them again if I lost them
