Recently seen one of these online and looks pretty handy for clearing marginal weed growth to create spots, a lot quicker than castable weed rakes anyway. Apparently it goes up to 100ft on the website. Does anyone on here own one and can comment on how good/practical it is? With the summer coming my pit will be choked with weed so will be good to create some spots in the edge quickly and effectively.

Used one for years. Works really well tbh. Clears a swim really fast and quietly. Find it ok for about 15 m bit cumbersome after that. Seems expensive but cheaper than a spod or marker rod!

yes, I like the fact it aquaplanes out to the spot, sinks and then drags back in via poles. Very good for creating spots without disturbing others and creating too much commotion (cheeky spot creation at night on the sly). I also like the fact you can attach a go pro to see the spot once cleared... no better confirmation.
After spending 3 hours last season clearing a spot with a castable weed rake this seems like a much better alternative. Thanks for the info re: 15meters... crazy it can go up to 100 feet! but gets very expensive with the added poles if going to that range.

I like the idea too, the only negative I can see is that you need the same distance you want to go out into the lake behind your swim to set it up before pushing it out.

You can break it down into sections of say 4 poles... very much like I would do with my 18 meter baiting pole. Very rarely would you ship it out all in one go. But yes I can see it being a pain in tight swims

A lake I used to fish had one of these,they are superb.You can just add poles as you ship it out and bring back in.There is a knack when shipping out so it stays afloat but once you get the hang of it you can clear a big area quickly

As already mentioned, they don't float, they aquaplane. Bit of a technique needed but easy and works well once mastered. Cracking bit of kit but I opted for the more traditional Jakes Rakes, https://www.jakesrakes.co.uk/. Not as good as the Aspen but does the job and nice and compact especially the removable stock version.

I just shove the pole into the bushes etc behind. Never been an issue but I guess it would if your swims are dug outs

I'm thinking of buying a weed rake.
I've only bothered using castable rakes so far. OK, but hard work!

The fact they aquaplane bothers me that they don't get down (sink) and stay there ?

Yes matey they sink, i've had one for a few years and cleared a lot of weed. I went down too pick it up and he give us a demo, him and he's wife are nice people. The condition is still the same as when I got it. Made a baiting pole out of it too.

I believe it will rake the first part of where it lands as the prongs will fill up. The standard pack is 30 foot in length and 3 foot head (well 28 inch)
