Any one ever fish less than 2 foot?

I've stalked fish in less than a foot but I spose it depends on the size of the fish and also birdlife could be a nightmare.

For sure, if they're in there why not.
Watched backs come out of the water and take a bait before. When they want it they'll do anything to get it.

Often yeah.
Sunny afternoons in the margins. Small amounts of bait and alternating between 2 or 3 spots along the bank either side of my peg. Can't beat that anticipation when you see a fin break the surface or a tail swirl over your bait. You get some wild takes as well!
Don't underestimate it as an overnight tactic too. Far easier to reposition your bait after a run if it's six feet to your left and a foot from the bank...

Yes. If they are there, fish for them.

If the fish are there even if it's very shallow I will fish for them, however overnight and very shallow water is just a recipe for getting picked up by birds

I've cast 60m to 18" of water on the sides of the island at Mercer's park and then watched carp come out of the deeper water and take my bait. Good times back then

I've seen large carp ( 20lb plus) push through silt with about 1ft of water above on a dam when the water levels drop in summer. Never fished for them though.
Margin fishing low levels is ok I think as they have deeper water to retreat into, but I wouldn't feel ok about fishing for fish in very shallow areas that have no escape route, kinda puts both the angler and fish in a sticky situation unless the angler is prepared to go in.

I've caught carp in a foot of water a foot from the bank the margins were lined with sedges. You had to be still and silent but that's where they wanted to feed. The water was very turgid though and the weather was cloudy. Daylight too.

Caught one in about 12 inches of water before (stalking).

I had a 32lb common taking floaters in some snags, few floaters well short and it came right to the edge in about 10inches of water to get them, it was right out of the water. Caught her later that day from the other side of the lake. Caught plenty of fish on the bottom between 2-3ft, if the fish swim there then you can put a bait there.

Few years ago me and a mate were pre baiting a lake, he started baiting a margin spot that was no more than 18” deep. Told him he was wasting his time, anyway we had our session and he managed to land a 20 off that margin 🤷🏻♂️ The fish must of gone in sideways 😂😂
Seen a mid double eating a ground bait that was In only 3 or 4 inch of water and about the same from the bank half it's back was out the water. I dropped it the night before when prebaiting and it rolled down in to the edge

Right now I'd be extremely happy to have a bait in 2ft of water.
A mate was recently telling me about a few mega hits he had fishing zigs in 3ft of water on a very well known pit

I caught a 50lb + in France in about 2 1/2 ft of water on not an easy lake by any means, like others have said if the food is there and the fish wants it they will do what they can to get it.

In open water I am fine with fishing in 18", in the margins I'll fish in less than a foot if that is where I can see the fish are feeding. The main thing that worries me about shallow water is birdlife not whether it is too shallow for carp.

Well I'm sure I am not the only one not to have realised they had cast a bait into overhanging bushes whilst recasting at night (many years ago before we clipped up etc). But as the great Rod Hutchinson used to say they roost in the trees at times. Also many years ago I was fishing at about 80 yards in France and had a bleep (one) just after dark. The next morning my lead was on the bank 80 yards away from me with the hooklink bitten through, my indicator was in exactly the same position (Coypu I think). So technically I have fished on dry land or up a bush a couple of times, but blanked both times.
I have certainly caught fish from under 2ft on numerous occasions, especially on silty waters. I'm sure many have seen fish feeding hard with their tails literally waving at you in shallow water and catching on floaters right in the margins is a very exciting method.
