I've scoured the internet looking for answers on this one. I want to apply to get a Savay days season ticket. Can anybody point me in the right direction, an email address, postal address, phone number - anything?

my last resort will be to drive down there and look for signs etc but at a 500 mile round trip I thought I'd give it a try on here 1st.

I may be completely wrong here but I don't think they offer a day ticket anymore. I had one in the early nineties, my memory isn't that great but I bought mine in the local shop.

Try ringing Harefield Tackle and ask them polity

I know you used to be able to buy them from a shop that was local to the lake but I believe that has stopped now. The only other info I can find is to write to Pete Broxup....

I think your best bet would be to ask an existing member to recommend you as someone who might be suitable to the owner.

Yep I know he went RIP a few years ago, very fortunate bloke to have seen what he did over the years.

I don't know any members, and TBF I wouldn't recommend someone I didn't know for any water so I'm not even going to try pursuing that line of enquiry. I'm due some time off next week so I'll probably try the Harefield tackle route then. I'm not trying to get on nights there I just have a few weeks off this summer and would love to spend one or two of them doing days on there.

I only suggested it as I thought you might know someone already on there. Wouldn't mind a crack on there on days myself. I know a couple of people on there. But in all honesty I don't use the tickets I've got so I figure I'd just be being greedy.

I know a couple of members , and I don't think it will help to much , the railway will go through the area including the north and cottage bay . The train might beat people to the ticket .

With the money the government is going to have to find paying people who's work has dried up. I think you can kiss goodbye to hs2 and it's spiralling 160bn cost.

HS2 is such a waste of money, that money would be better spent on the NHS, fighting the coronavirus, cancer and leukemia, looking after Ex Veterans, the elderly, homeless, and so many more in need, than a quicker train journey up north.

I'm more worried about people from the north getting here quicker. That alone should be enough to cancel it.

Admittedly I don't know much about this but there'll be a monstrous waiting list won't there? Especially if you don't know anyone to recommend you.

Hoping to get on for this Summer seems incredibly optimistic.

Might be best to ring unless you are local as you may find they are closed Just had email from Johnson Ross saying they are closing the shop (due to virus) Only doing mail order and click and collect

I don't think it's the sort of water that has a waiting list. Remember it's not a club/syndicate. It has an owner who for obvious reasons no ones gonna name here. It's his water. I'd imagine if you get on with him then quite rightly you'd get a ticket. Exactly how I'd do it if I owned a fantastic water than I didn't need to make a profit from.

I'm pretty sure you have to be recommended by a member to get a days only ticket.
I spent 2 years on days until the year Peter died, I got on pretty well with him and all the syndicate guys I met were absolutely fantastic, it was everything you imagined it to be.
I kept my season ticket and returned on days a few years later, and found things to have changed and not for the better. Many of the old faces I had come to know had gone and a number of new guys seemed to have chips on their shoulders, I've got a night ticket so I'm better than you, "your just day ticket scum".
JH is a lovely bloke and there were some good guys still on but I didn't like the attitude of some and decided to move on as I found out I wasn't going to get on the nights anyway.
I enjoyed most of my time there, met some top guts and made a life long friend but if it's anything like when I left then don't meet your hero's unless you like being spoken to like **** and then blanked by the guy you spent 2 hrs brewing and chatting with the week before.
Maybe not want you wanted to hear but saying it as it is.

What a bloody shame, think quite a few of the Korda guys are on there now including Damain Clarke sales director of Korda. It seems under Redlands and now sadly passed Peter it was truly amazing. Drove past a few times, even got butterflies just doing that.

Funny. I see it the other way. I wouldn't want to have been on there in the mad days. Whilst I find it funny to read about all the antics that went on, although I get on well with people, I very rarely drink and I don't do drugs etc so I'm not sure I'd have fitted in with that crowd. It appeals to me much more now and from talking to the guys I know on there they still love it. There's definitely something special about a Savs fish.

Just to pick up on what you've said there. Why should it matter if Damien Clarke is fishing there? He's a lovely guy. Quietly goes about his business. Just happens to work in the trade. I've met far more troublesome coke head builders on the bank than anyone from Korda.

Damien Clarke is an absolute gent/ nice guy and brilliant angler, got to know him pretty well on another water before savay.
I don't see how him or korda for that matter being associated with any water is a nagative, if that's where it's going. Both have done such a lot of positive stuff for carp fishing.

I'll keep trying. Not too bothered about who does / doesn't fish there TBH, if i get on I'll respect everyone etc.

Made me cringe too. Having been a member on one of Mr B's syndicates I know it takes a certain person to be deemed 'suitable' for his waters.

Not being condescending but the harsh reality is if you have to ask about membership on an open forum then there is probably a very slim chance you will get on.

Bristol you are Spot on.

Unfortunately these days things like Personal Privacy, respect and simple Etiquette are lost on some people.

Had many great memories doing day sessions on Savay, never had a season ticket only ever bought day tickets,..... Bruce walked past me one morning and asked how I was doing, after a brief chat we were joined by John Harry. I wanted to get as much information from these two as I could so I made tea and listened to the both of them for over an hour.

We talked about bait, rods, savay of course and Other waters,... John put me onto a spot which the following week gave me fish , he also returned later that day with a bag of bait for me to try.

I've been around long enough to realise that. Probably a 99% chance I wont get on but I think that's better than the 100% chance of not getting on if i didn't make any efforts toward making it happen....

Like your thinking , it doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck. An amazing lake with such history. My best fishing memories are from Savay and Cassien in the late 80s early 90s.

So now looking as if the Hs2 has come to a halt has it actually passed through the lake if so has it affected the fishing etc . Been reading jh book looks an amazing water such a shame if they have passed over the lake .

Yes, bridge is over the north bay. Still plenty of room to fish though and the lake remains awesome... The future is bright.

Hs2 come to a halt. They seemed to be pretty busy on the bridge over the North bay of Savay when I was over that way a couple of weeks ago.

I live 1 minute away from Savay, HS2 has certainly not stopped and has gone too far now to do so.

I was fishing on BCSG Korda lake across the road when we lost it to HS2, I would still be on it to this day if we hadn't. Luckily in the last year I had some nice fish, but the whole area around us has been devastated by HS2.

There's been some palms greased alright, for this absolute farce of an idea.

As for Savay, drive past it every day but never fished it. That is also a crying shame.

Its definately leaving a bit of a scar over the valley that's for sure. Hopefully over time it will start to blend in. It's a shame Korda lake was lost to HS2. I would imagine there will be no chance of any further fishing with a bloody great bridge right through the middle of it. Did the study group get a chance to move any of the stock before it was handed over do you know?

No fish were moved “officially”, there was a half-arsed attempt net it which resulted in zero carp getting caught.
There was talk of it being possible to fish it in the future, pie in the sky as I can't see it happening myself.
