Thinking to buy myself a set of 10ft 3.5 scopes.. Iv heard many mixed reviews on them.. Having fished with 12ft rods for a very long time now I'm considering giving them a bash for my Uk fishing. Yes or no what's your thoughts on them? Thank you guys 👍🏽

Unless you need a small pack down size just buy standard 10ft 2 piece rods, I found the scopes to be awkward to pack away and took longer than conventional rods. Smaller rods have a place but I'm not a fan tbh.

scopes Expensive cheaply made I know four people had problems with them take a look at sonik xtractor or just get two piece rod like esp or if you want to pay more free spirit or Harrison

Use them in 10ft/3lbs & 9ft/3lbs, no problems whatever, very nice rods, had them in 2,75lbs also without problems.

Had the 9's in 3lb, found them a little poky, now got the 10's in 2.75lb personally love em, sold my 12' set.
I think the problems were with the Mk1's

I use 10ft 2.75 scopes for most carp fishing up to 80 yards or so love them they have a great playing action and are really compact.
I did have some 3.5 scopes but found them too pokey
Just use my normal 12ft rods for anything more than 80 yards.

Hi. I'm inclined to agree with post # 3.. don't get caught up with the hype surrounding Scopes. Save yourself some £££ for bait /tickets etc and go for the Extractors in the same tc. Their design isn't to everyones' liking and paying out for scopes could be a costly error...Extractors wouldn't be such a bitter pill to swallow if you decide they're not for you.

The concept of scopes is brilliant And the rods are genuinely a fantastic concept.. Changed my fishing. However I've had mine 4 years now and the carbon where the rods go into the butt has worn away, meaning some rods are longer than the others. I'm going to get rid of them soon and buy some Cotswold pace compacts as the build quality is miles better.
Will never touch Nash stuff again considering I paid £180 for them each.

The very reason I got rid of mine. Not that i had a problem with mine, I only owned them a short time. But I could forsee the problem after just a few uses.

Yep, other than the carbon wearing away and one tip eye being cut away by 15lb mono they have been ok. Suppose 4 years is a while really but I'd expect them to do last a bit longer..t

Unless for pack down size get some standard 10 ft tackle box CFC are good rods loved mine but just got some Harrison ballista stalkers built love them had scopes too but had 9: 3.5 kept losing fish maybe how I play them who knows but no trouble with these rods mentioned

Thanks for all your inputs lads very interesting! And do you guys use a big bit reel with them, would my 5000ts work with them or did you scale down your reels to suit also?

Got a mint set of 9 foot 2.75's off eBay for just over £150. They're okay wouldn't pay anywhere near retail for them though. If buying new I'd wait until Cotswold bring out some lighter versions of their travel rods.

I currently use cult emblem z's, have used tournies and baboons on my 3.5's are they're fine.

What are the Pace rods like to use? Especially as they have a high tc
I am assuming that they have a good build as Cotswold, but are they any ether for fishing with than the Scopes, Dwarfs, or Soniks?

I think the Scopes are great, I don't use mine for my main rods but for small waters and a bit of stalking/floater/snide/margin fishing they are spot on, especially because they have a full-length handle.
I reluctantly sold 2 x Torrix 10ft stalkers that I loved but was just not using simply because of my preference for 12ft rods for the vast majority of my angling but the pack down size of the Scopes as well as their versatility for occasional use. The 2 piece 10ft rods gave me no advantage over the 12ft rods and IMO didn't have the versatility of a Scope.
I looked at the new Aqua versions and there doesn't appear to be anything to stand them apart from the Scope, in fact they were more in keeping with the Sonik Xtracators, which I don't like because of the short handle.

I think the scopes are a great idea just like other things in carp fishing that is not the issue it's the quality of the rod for the price is what people have a problem with if the scopes where below £100 each I don't think there would be any problem and what the other companies need to do is make there rods with a full length handle

I've used Scopes for the last 4 years and never had a problem with the quality, granted I haven't caned them but even so they have been spot on......landed fish to 38lb on a 3lb tc rod with no issues......if anything it was a lot more enjoyable than playing them on a 12ft blank.

I have a pair of 10ft 3lb scopes and really like them, get their not everyone's cup of tea and I also agree they are too expensive.
I have mine in one of the scope holdalls and just find everything easier, check em in the car and then throw the over your shoulder and your away.
Pack up and down in a couple of mins. Just my opinion.

Any other user opinions of which test curve of scope rods to get? I'm drawn to the higher tc because of heavily weeded lakes I'm fishing and dropping rigs out with a boat at moderate ranges. They did seem fairly stiff when I had a waggle in the tackle shop. What they like in actual use??

Buy the tc that best suits your needs but for what you discibe the 3.5tc 10ft may be good, I've owned rods from century, free spirit, Harrison ect in various test curves and build specs but also have 3lb tc 10ft and 2.25tc 9 foot scopes and can't fault them for what I use them for.
