Very sad news. I will always recall his rejoinder to advocates of feeding carp large amounts of expensive HNV baits. "What do you want to do, feed them or catch them?" Fair point, Bob. Thousands of carp anglers doff their caps and say a big thank-you for orange Tuttis!

Really nice bloke was Bob, I had a lot of dealings over the phone in the 90s and he was always very interested to hear about what we were all catching. He will be missed. One of the nice guys

RIP Bob Baker. Top Carp angler and founder of Richworth Baits. A genuine legend in bait making, indeed including the best Tutti Fruity ever! I can remember back in the early 80's walking in to a tackle shop seeing and buying the first freezer boilies from Richworth. He went on the change the way we made, bought and stored our baits for sure. Another great loss to the Carping world.

He didn't start Richworth. The clues in the name
Clive Dietrich and Malcolm Winkworth
Although I'm in the same club as him, I can't recall every actually meeting him, maybe in passing on a work party. But every single time I've ever heard another member who knows him speak of him, they always say what a lovely guy he was.
Definitely a sad loss.

I will always remember getting a slapped hand for suggesting improvements to the Amazon Rain Forest of a delivery note that Richworth would supply to the shops no matter how many or how few products were ordered. Fortunately Mainline continue the tradition albeit with the modern twist of having actual product codes in it too.

I think Bob supplied financial backing for Richworth when it was first set up. Clive and Malcolm ran the show, I dont think he took an active role until he took the business over at a later date. I first met him on Painshill in the very early eighties when it was a derelict forgotten park. Bob was on the committee of the Cobham club and was always in the company of Albert and would often fish there when they were off rota at Savay
Bob was always very helpful to a novice like me. he would show me some of the secret rigs of the day. He was a really nice bloke.
