This has surprised me. Mike was always happy with just his core range.

Krill nothing like following trends, what about next year.... the N5 for the new nut based bait.

Yes that description is pretty close.

But the whole background research which lead to the creation of the B5 is meant to have quite a lot of krill in it, anyway.
IMHO more krill, Shrimp and crab, than LT94 and predigested fishmeal content guessing by the base mix smell, colour, taste, texture, etc.
My point being that B5 is probably a lot better than these more recent Krill type baits anyway. LOL !

Mike announced on the Essential FB page a while back that they have developed a new 'house' bait for Lakeside View fishery called the K5...added krill and removing the fruity notes to the original B5 bait.

Breaking news - exclusive bait for Lakeside Fishery...

Essential Baits have been asked by Pete (owner) if we could possibly create a new bait exclusively for his complex at Lakeside. The B5 and Black Snail are now starting to work well on the lake, but there is still a big demand for a 'Krill' based bait.

Now don't forget, the B5 already includes krill, but I have agreed to 'modify' the recipe. This will include increasing the krill content, taking away the 'fruity' notes and adding krill/fishy liquids to match up with the krill. A nutritional emulsifier will also be included to aid digestion and assimilation during the colder months ahead. The new bait will still include Robin Red and therefore still be very similar in appearance to the B5.

The bait is essentially (excuse the pun!) a 'twist' from the B5 and as such, will be known as K5 for the time being. It will be a dedicated food bait with the usual high quality associated with Essential Baits, who have been formulating carp bait for over 35 years. It will remain exclusive to Lakeside View for the foreseeable future and will only be available from the on-site tackle shop and packed in 1kg bags. The B5 and Black Snail will still be available in the shop of course.

Gotta love the word Krill for marketing purposes.
Could be a little trial to see how well it sells, and how many current Sticky Krill sheep may be persuaded to try it.

So it's not for general sale at first. I suppose if it works well it will be put on sale to all. However there is no gaurantee it will work on all types of water unless widely tested. I'm a big fan of b5 and hope this turns out to be a really good bait. We shall see.

We class this as a ‘sister bait' to the incredible Shellfish B5, simply because it's built upon the same high quality food values as the B5, but with a number of subtle differences. It is still contains all the nutritional values of a high quality fishmeal formulation and is a classic all season food bait. Among the changes, the Robin Red has been removed and replaced with a higher level of krill meal (hence the ‘K') and the sweet/fruity attractors of the B5 have been replaced with our Antarctic Krill concentrate and squid powder to give the finished bait a lovely ‘krill/fish' aromatic profile that spells FOOD!

As with the B5, the new K5 has a high level of crustacean extracts to retain its crunchy-like texture, which greatly imitates much of the carps' natural food and makes it different to so many other baits – remember, carp love to crunch!

The bait needs no introduction whatsoever and will catch straight from the off. In a nutshell, the K5 is extremely attractive, highly digestible and is set to be an absolute winner on any venue. After all, what else would you expect from the Essential stable after nearly 40 years of cutting-edge bait development.
