Just goes to show how much we get ripped off eh....£499 originally and they can still make a profit at £150!!!!

Good price for the Kampa though.

I think the silly cheap price is cos its discontinued when its gone its gone

someone I know got one for Christmas it took 1 min and 48 seconds to set up using the supplied hand pump today about the same time to deflate etc

Wonder if there bringing out a mk2

Kampa have been bought out by a company called Dometic and have dropped and amended some of the tent models from 2020, so i wouldnt be surprised if the bivvy is discontinued

Couldn't resist the price from future and stumped up £150 for one to
have a play with.
I found a footprint (2nd under groundsheet) from Johnson Ross for
£12.99p which is a bonus but cant find a wrap for it for toffee. So if one
of you beady eyed carpers find one for sale please let me know.

JUST found this >>>You can buy the Kampa Air bivvy Wraps less than half price online including postage from some shops in Germany and Italy. The original JRC TX 2G winter Wrap also fits the Kampa Air 1-man perfectly.

read there is a TFG wrap off something that fits too but cant remember what one lol

Think I'm going to take a punt on one of these - anyone manage to track down an overwrap/no for sure one which will fit?

Saying that.. I have done over 20 nights in mine this year and haven't had any condensation or been cold once.

I am so tempted to get one of these as where I fish up on the windswept banks of the Trent the wind is soo strong you spend half your time wondering if one of the poles is going to snap

and I KNOW from using my large Kampa Air Awning on my caravan they are far superior to any metal framed tents etc
as all that can happen is the bend in a bit then pop out
shame its not taller but think for the advantages speed putting it up and down etc £150 delivered Im going to have to get one and sell off some of my gear I wont use anymore

anyone interested this seems to be the cheapest place silly cheap

I ordered a 1 man from future fishing last night, can't go too wrong for £150.

Found a few wraps from europe but still at full/high prices (~£300). Seems silly when I've only paid £150 for the bivvy.

Glad to hear it does well without a wrap - read some reviews saying the condensation is terrible without. That being said I've never used a wrap on my current JRC, have only once found condensation a real issue. Normally it's just a little damp to the touch and not an issue.

truth is any single skin will get condensation in the right weather conditions even double skin
BUT !!
A lot of condensation is pilot error people that have the door done up your breathing out warm air ! and you boil a kettle all that steam !

Luckily or unluckily ? I am one of those people that get claustrophobic and so cant have the door down its always open no matter what the temp
and ventilation prevents condensation as Condensation occurs when warm air collides with cold surfaces

Well I am sure there must be some bivvies with the same size and in theory the wrap should fit ?
The Kampa 1 man is 280 x 210 x 143

Winfield still pops up on a google search but you can't actually locate the wrap on there.

Think I'll accept there are none and have a crack without. I never zip the door up so tend to avoid the condensation on the basis of good ventilation.

Had a look for the old JRC TX 2G wraps but failed

I agree mate. I use a brolly and have never used a skull cap/twin skin/inner capsule/whatever. It's just a drop of water. it wont kill us.

Been looking for a 2 man wrap- and the footprint groundsheet myself for months there isnt any anywhere.Someone did post a alternative wrap that fits but cannot find the post anywhere.

I must admit I dont like it dripping on me ! in fact I keep a lightweight sports towel just to give any on the roof a quick wipe

Yeah I've only used my wrap a couple of times. I'll happily get dripped on if it means I don't have to lug the thing around, put it up, pack it down, dry it out etc. Just wipe the condensation down with a hand towel first thing if it gets really bad.

I don't use this bivvy was just on about overrwraps in general

only thing I add to my shelter is a zip on front if a cold wind is blowing directly in, can't stand that!

I never ever take my Skull cap off my tempest bivvy

amazing how it helps in the baking sun definitely cooler and better shade and of course in winter in the rain the peak helps and when its freezing cold helps to keep it warmer and helps with condensation on the roof are too see zero point in a full overwrap unless you really needed the extra space it can give

Must say these skull caps are starting to look interesting, particularly if you can just leave them attached for pack down. Not sure if I can still get one that fits my Air will check with Trakker.

funny you should mention the Air I met a Yorkshire-man up on the Tidal Trent last year he was next to me and using an Air
and I bumped into him again this year and it absolutely chucked it down all night and most of the day he came to have a chat and said after seeing my Skullcap last year he got one so yes they do one he said it was the best thing he has bought and loved the extra coverage the peak gives

The skull cap that fitted the trakker tempest v2 system bivvy also fitted the tempest air model so the new tempest 100 Bivvy system skull cap will fit

as you have had your Kampa air a while I understand the bag is heavy duty

but looking at videos I wondered if its easy to get back in the bag ?? or is it loads of Agg ?

I have a few items of Andy's and the bag supplied is on par with Andy's quality wise and is oversized so a doddle to pack away into it.

You just deflate it, remove the front pole then fold the front 1/3 to the middle and then the back 1/3 towards the middle. Roll up from one end to the other and secure with a length of paracord. Slots in the bag easy with room to spare.

I find the bag with my Kampa plenty big enough but the over wrap bag could do with being a little bigger
Just got too deflate 5 min before I want to put it away is the easiest way

Had mine delivered today from future fishing. Although I haven't looked at the bivvy at all very impressed with the bag - better than any bivvy bags I've seen previously. Granted the bag quality is of a minor concern though.

but in some they fit the bar on top and others they fit it underneath ???

but looking at the picture and video they look very thin ? or are they the normal heavy duty rubberised groundsheets ??

Its to protect the built in groundsheet
Allegedly .... If any stones are about this will take the damage rather then the built in one
Not sure if it does but I have one and so far no issues

Re the Footprint
The protecting of the built in groundsheet against damage against sharp stones is not really the best benefit as its very marginal IMO

BUT if you DONT use a foot print and the ground is wet and muddy
when you pack up you will have only 2 options either roll the built in covered in mud groundsheet up all in with the bivvy and dump it in the bag
OR unzip it and pack it separately in another bag ? ((If it unzips ?? ))

both options are rubbish IMHO so it makes a footprint in my eyes an essential item
and the footprints are normally cut to the exact size so if its raining it wont channel water underneath between them as a larger groundsheet would

Gerry.. You cant see the under sheet when its fitted. Well maybe the odd edge. the fitted groundsheet is 100% waterproof and a thick heavily coated rubber like one. the only purpose of it is so that if the ground is sodden and muddy you whack it under before setting up and this gets filthy instead of the actual bivvy. Its a system that has worked very well for me on my syndicate which has no pegs as such, just grass banks. When I pack up I fold the under sheet up and stick in a carrier bag and rinse it off with a hose and dry it off outside before packing it back into my gleamingly clean bivvy bag.

Its a barrier against mud, not stones or damage.
