Got to the swim yesterday evening, everything running fine.
Switched the controller off. Sorted everything out.
Went to move the porter, switched the controller on and got red, yellow then green and then a red flashing light even with the controller off
Undid the connector nearest the controller. The connect several times but the same issue and didn't run
And after a while no lights at all.
Anybody had the same problem or any ideas why this has happened??

I got home and took the controller off and it was full of water

That explains it then. Just had a look at the Mk2 controller and it looks a bit pony compared to the one that is on the Mk6 Power Porter, don't know why they changed it
To keep it dry I always tie a freezer bag over mine (Mk1) when it's parked up in the swim

I put a waterproof neoprene glove over mine as the controller would never keep any water out

I've dried mine out but no joy.
Rang prestige up this morning explained everything. They think the controller is still under guarantee so it's going back tomorrow
It's either the controller or the battery's have died ???
How long would you think a set of batteries last with lots of use most weeks of the year. There 2 years old ??

The batteries are the same as in most leccy golf trolleys (which will do many more miles than a carp barrow) and mine haven't skipped a beat in 5 years.

Power Porter use the same parts ( controllers etc) as used on the very cheap and nasty golf trolleys , they suffered the same problems in the rain etc.
The current power porter price is an absolute rip off for the quality you get.

The controller definitely looks more robust on the Mk6 PP.
Even though the electrics are supposed to be encapsulated in resin It did say in the instructions IIRC to still protect it from rain when parked up on the bank.
On the Mk7 it says the controller is waterproof

I got a long piece of vegetation wrapped around my front heel once going up a steep hill and mine tripped out. Was a bugger to reset and ever since the motor has played up. It's as if there's a dead spot and if you stop with it in that position it's a pain to start again. Will get it fixed one day when it gives up completely.

I have just put thread up on new power porters as looking at buying one next year!
The new prices are crazy but long walks pushing heavy gear kills me and decided I want a easy life now a days as work hard enough 😁
I see they give a 2 yr warranty on them, does that include battery's as well?

I got a top range one with the made in england brass plaque about 10 years ago.
It was about 650 then from Tacklebox. Mark 3 I think.
Whilst it was a sizeable investment into something with electric wires that can go wrong. And i have tried
To look after it. Its lasted well even after some accidents.
Its tipped a few times, and the front end once tipped in the lake. It also sat unused for 3 years with a
Neglected battery. I bought a new one and it kicked into life.
My one is bloody dangerous to fold so i never do. And i taped some wires up that were fraying or looked like they could rub. I bought a nash barrow cover as a rain cover and whenever i fish,the handles, controller and battery get removed and put in the bivvy. This makes it hard to pinch, hard to see what it is, waterproof
And actually a handy bench by the side of the swim.
I often take my wife, son or sometimes both. So its been invaluable for me. We can always go round the quieter

Hi all just a word on the mk7 power porter ive used mine 3 times and have a power problom battery saying 26v but when i push the start button it just jerks forward an inch then the light flashes red can anybody tell me what the problem is carp porter say its battery falt but ive tryed new ones and still the same.thanks guys

Ive got a mk 8 prestige power porter. Bought it Nov 2020 but didn't use until April 2021 due to lock downs.
Not impressed with it at all, the welding on joints is very poor. This week whilst fishing i noticed the cross bar on the rear wheels had snapped, the metal is so thin, not much thicker than a tin of soup lid! i could see rather than welding around 4 sides its been welded on two edges only.
I know 2 other friends who own power barrows, one is a mk 8 his broke in exactly the same place as mine, his was 2 months old. The other was a mk 7 so slightly older.
£1000 barrow and a frame that imo is not fit for purpose.

If carp porter are still trading, then I would ask for money back,
When thay fob you of tell them it's not fit for purpose, and quote consumer rights act,
Or did you buy from tackle shop, take back get money back

I also bought a Carp porter (before korda took over) payed around €600 in total..., thin poor quality metal plus the protection covers around the bars started to tear after 2x use I regret not buying the new Nash trax mk2.

The Nash battery compartment is actually pretty good (and sealed) however I never fully break the barrow down and only ever remove the handlebars (one connnection) for transit. I'm just wondering has the quality of the frame deteriorated on the more recent models?
I'm still using my Mk6 PP bought in 2017. Its only fault in all the time since has been the need for a new set of batteries. I have had none of these structural failures that are being talked about here.
I've had no issues with the controller shorting out either, I just cover the whole barrow with the prestige cover and that keeps everything dry.
My biggest worry with it, is the front wheel and the nightmare that would be a flat tyre, but I raised that point on here some time back and a can of tyre foam seemed to be the answer if that happened.

The latest models are nowhere near as well made as the older models.I hope Korda get this sorted out and the supply issues,im going to wait to get a powerporter for a good few months now.I will wait to see what the new Korda Karriages are like once they have had a bit of time in charge

I think you will find that simply because the business has changed hands it cannot simply walk away from its existing obligations, not unless the company is wound up and restarts as something else.
If you are being dick*d around say on a 12 month warranty I would be threatening legal action.

As has been said if purchased from a shop and still in warranty its down to the shop to get it soughted to the customers satisfaction be it a replacement or refund. If you bought a TV, washing machine, fridge freezer ect from your local retailer you wouldn't be dealing with the manufacturer you would take it back for replacement or refund and tackle items are no different.

Bought it direct from prestige so to get fixed would have to send off. Pain in the backside.
Bottom line is the welds on the frames are really poorly done in china.
I wouldnt be surprised if another area breaks in the future,

That must be the difference, I still have the blurb that came with my 24v Mk6 and plastered all over it is "made in the UK".
But how poor is that? Charge people more for these later model PP barrows and slash your own costs and quality by outsourcing the frames (and god knows what else) to a far inferior supplier.

Prestige is a UK based company, sorry if that had happened to me I'd of payed them a visit with the barrow for them to see and got a refund.

Guess it depends on the warranty as this barrow was purchased nearly 2 years ago now
EDIT: I'm sure they only offer 12 month warranty as I had an issue with my charger killing my batteries and only just got a replacement as I said I'd only had the barrow about a year

Outdated and poorly designed, fairenough going for one when there was nothing else about but the Nash barrow is lightyears ahead of the PP.
Look at the new conversion competition out there, they all use the same technology Nash use all be it with slightly more powerful motors, that said the Nash unit would suit 99% of UK carpers.
If Korda are on the ball I'd expect to see two models matching the Nash offering but slightly more powerful and a couple of battery options.
Wouldn't lose any sleep if Prestige went out of business, outdated Tec, poor quality construction and sod all customer service, you reap what you sow.

I can put my lightweight battery almost anywhere so cant see the Nash has any advantage ( mine is in a Lipo waterproof explosion proof bag )

The battery compartment on my Gash is excellent - compact and with a sealed watertight lid (not just flung in a pannier / barrow bag / placcy bucket) however the 'only' issue is its not accessible when fully loaded so if you're lucky enough to be able to leave your gear on the barrow in the back of your van you still have to unload to remove / recharge the batteries . . .

like i said the pp will be worthless now after all the negative comments i bought mine 0ver 2 years ago from total tackle

I'm going to buy an ip66 junction box and waterproof cable glands and fit the battery and controller in it with the battery in the bag pictured, will fit a waterproof socket so I can charge it with the dedicated charger and my power pack if possible.

Just picked up a mk7 off a lad on syndicate, fine apart from the stupid rubber dome shaped cover on the ‘ go ‘ button will not stay in place. Any ideas of a fix , tempted to glue the dam thing in place😂😂😂
