That new iPhone is a lot of Bills, Food or a family holiday, petrol, Ticket fees and bait money.

I'm getting the proper hump with iPhones to be honest. I have two, one is my work number and one my personal phone.

I have broken the screen on every single one of them. The latest one, the XS, was in a case, I dropped it from waist height, screen broke, now hardly works and Apple want £280 to repair it. The US presidents car has windows that can take a direct hit from an RPG so how hard can it be to fit a bit of glass to a phone that can take being dropped on a small bit of gravel.

I bet it takes more effort to make RPG resistant phones than it does to not drop it in the first place
Those glass screen protectors seem to work, my missus one took the impact and broke but the screen stayed in one piece.

iPhones are a rip off all round imo. I had every iPhone from the original through to the 7. Then they released the X which basically had the same specs as the Samsung S8 but for twice the price. Couple that with the fact Apple were caught slowing down old phones...... I walked away and will not go back. Rip off merchants.

My upgrade is due literally as the stock hits the shelves, I'm in... Green 256gb please!
I've had 3GS, 4, 5, 6s+, 7 & X and only ever broken the 6s+ and up until the X I've never used a case either. I now have a thin skin and a screen protector applied in store, had the X for 2 years in December.
I actually work in retail and it makes me die the amount of people who'll happily spend £1200 on a phone or £2000 on a laptop but won't spend £30 on a case as it's “too” expensive...
Probably those same people will buy a Korda Krusher and then buy the sleeve for it though...🤪
At the end of the day there are a range of phones out there to suit all budgets, these iPhones are at the top end of that so won't be what everyone wants or needs but that's the same with almost every “product” on the market be it Cars, Watches, Reels, Kitchen Units, Lawn Mowers, Trainers etc etc etc

Wife and kids all have Apple phones but i have always had Androids.....there's nothing theirs can do that my Huawei P20 pro can't but there's a lot that mine can do that the App Store wont allow, (unless you jailbreak them, which invalidates everything!).
My son recently upgraded his iphone and i had the opportunity of having his 8S, I played around with it for some time but couldn't transfer anything directly from my Android, (the "Move to iOS" app is crap and the Apple Genius Bar confirmed this) and the lack of like for like Apps was quite surprising! At the end of the day there was not nearly enough to justify moving from Android so I stuck with the Huawei...(although I know the Chinese are supposed to be using them to start world domination!).
Ironically my Employers are changing all of our work mobiles over the next month or so so from Samsungs to iphone 8's so i will end up with one anyway!!

Isn't it crazy that people are made to think that if they don't have the latest Iphone then they are missing out and being left behind! People are made to feel inadequate if they don't have the newest model. See it so often......people saying they are skint .....whilst sat scrolling through facebook on their £80 a month phone. It could be construed as narcissistic conditioning,manufacturers of stuff right across the board,know this,and use the weakness of humans to perpetuate a need,a need that is made to be paramount in today's human psyche...

I'm so sick of smashing my iPhone screens that once I've had new glass fitted I'm going to get a Mous cover for both of mine. In the end it's cheaper than replacing bloody screens.

Had 2 cheap **** Chinese iphones and like said I dropped it out my pocket it was ****ed!!! The other was my fault... Samsung's are a lot better for been dropped on the deck end off!!! Apple = mugs
But **** happens? If I had to replace my Samsung's every time I dropped them I'd be using a laptop now and use a nokia 3210 for a phone

I've dropped my iPhone quiet a few times but never smashed it.
Get a decent case along with a tempered glass and you won't have to worry.

No idea. It's some gel thing they sold me with my phone. It was in the case the last time I smashed it. But it fell face down on gravel drive an so the case was useless as a sharp stone hit the screen.

All smartphones are fragile, my wife has a Samsung S8 which she dropped after 2 weeks of getting it, screen smashed and is still like it now.
As has been said below, most phones are not designed to be dropped and are not marketed as being shock proof.

had the same issue but a stone happened to hit the screen in the smallest gap between case and tempered screen protector edges.
£280 to replace the iphone X screen.

The cracks I can deal with. But the dead spots on the screen are driving me crackers and if the phone gets warm it becomes unusable. Randomly opens apps etc or throws random characters in as I'm typing.

Depends on the user. If you're one of those people who looks after their phone then you could save £120 a year.
Then if you're then unfortunate to break it you'll have the £120 plus the excess of £50 you would've paid so £170 to put towards a repair.
As I say it depends on the user you may be one of those people who regularly runs it over and drops it down the bog

I tend to buy the stuff that was new a year or two ago. Still pretty effective but much cheaper. I even stopped insuring my present Samsung a year ago and it's being upgraded in a week or so.
Mega-bucks for mobiles is crass. Apple is run by the devil and people who spend more that 15 minutes of their day looking at a phone should have their eyes poked out.

I echo what Yonny said , you can get better Android products just as good if not better for a lot less than what Apple charge
Edit.. if the colour is so important, just buy a ‘carpy' green cover for it if that's what your into

For me what keeps me on apple is the seamless use of iCloud. I literally use it every day for work and it happens automatically.
For example. I go out to do a landlord inspection. I snap a picture of the boiler data badge. I snap a picture of the readings that I set the boiler up to on my gas analyser. I take a screen grab of the gas rate from the iPhone app that the boiler manufacturer provides. All of these are dated, timed and geolocated automatically. Then they back up to the icloud automatically. At any point in the future I can prove exactly how I left the appliance running.
Also if I find something not to the regs, I take a picture which again is automatically backed up. Then later in the week when I email the land lord, I attach the pics to the email. Again this way I can prove I've informed the customer of any issues. The pictures are mirrored to my iPad before I even get home. Ready to use.
Plus if I destroy or lose a phone it doesn't matter as it's all on iCloud and this costs me 89p a month. Which I think is great value.

Brought myself a mous case when the iPhone X came out. Have dropped my phone dozen of times and it's saved it every time and the phone is still good as new 2 years on.

I wouldn't touch a Samsung, I had the original Galaxy s in 2010 and it started playing up after two years, constantly crashing, upgraded to a Galaxy S2 (I think?) after two years that started getting hot and 'cooked' the micro sd card inside it and I lost over two hundred photos, even my Galaxy tab I bought in 2014 slowed right down. So even though I liked the Android system I bit the bullet and went for an iPhone 6S in 2016, after being an Android user it took a bit of getting used to the ios system but now i'd never go back, iPhone is far better built, mostly metal rather than cheap Samsung plastic, I bought a Gear 4 case for it and have dropped it more than once and its as good as new when I take the case off, also an gorilla glass screen protector....i'll never go back to Samsung, my phone is now three years old and works like new but I think I might have to upgrade at some stage as I reckon all these phones are designed to start failing after a few years, I also pay Apple.75p a month for an extra 50 gb of storage, all photos backed up in the cloud so I'll never lose them

I've always found the Spigen cases are great and normally only around £10 that along with tempered glass you would be very unlucky to break it.

Check out rhino screen protectors, they are tempered, so you drop your phone, the screen protector breaks, peel it off, screen is fine, stick on a new protector.

I had a friend who insisted on everything being camo.
He spent ages on his hands and knees whilst fishing, usual trying to find the camo baiting needle or lighter that he had dropped in the grass.

These phones are excellent, and the only problem is with their storage. It isn't enough. Don't let this put you off buying an iPhone or other high-end smartphone; the device you choose can make a massive difference to how productive and happy you are. Man, have you seen the Alpine Green iPhone 13?! I mean, all of them, the 13, the Pro, and the Pro max as well! They look amazing, and they are amazing in general! I own an iPhone 13 Pro Max, and I love that phone. First of all, the Alpine Green color makes it feel truly fresh and special. Besides all that, the iOS is working much better on this phone. I guess it's due to the iOS version, but still, it's amazing. The only thing that sometimes annoys me is that I cannot use a fake phone number for verification australia while using the mobile data.
