My comfortable may not be your comfortable or anybody else's......You really need to try before you buy and i mean more than sitting or lying on one for 2 minutes......

Buy a self inflating mat (SIM)
the type that backpackers use it will be a lot cheaper than a new bed and transform the comfort

As we are not laying on the ground and we will be using on top of a bed we DONT need it to be too thick or inflated too much

Before buying a new bedchair, try replacing any elastic with 9mm paracord/rope. Less than £10 will do more than one bedchair with ease, and will turn a sagging old bedchair into a new one almost! First thing I do with any bedchair I purchase now if it is fitted with elastics. Makes that much of a difference.

Comfort is a personal thing like Wayne said. Lots recommend the Trakker, I hated mine and sold it , got a Cyprinus memory foam and love it.

They are ok but if your frame is poorly designed (doesn't lay flat) a mat won't help you. I've used one for decades but as I've aged it just wasn't enough when doing anything more than a night.
A thermarest is great and I preferred mine on the ground than on a bedchair.
I've not bothered using mine since I've had an avid bedchair.

Mine is a 4 leg in the middle and then one leg at the top and one night at the bottom there is only elastic at the top and bottom in the middle ( where my back is ) it is canvas directly around the metal tubes !

I absolutely hate my nash sleep system. Was talking to a couple of mates at the weekend about it and I came to the conclusion that in 25 years of buying dedicated carp tackle , it ranks up there as one of the worst purchases I've ever made. Never again.
Take a look at the new solar bed and also the fox flat lighter. For my personal taste they were so much better than my crappy gash bed.

Ok where do I start.
It's saggy. So bad that I had to remove the elastics and paracord it just to make it useable and even now it's still poor.
The padding around the frame is so thin that the metal digs into your arms if you turn over.
The actual bag just isn't warm. It's nothing like good enough. I know I'm not a young man anymore but with this bag I have to use it with a thermal cover or I will be cold. In fact the bag is so rubbish that for the odd winter night I do now I've ditched it altogether and gone back to my old aqua bag which is sooo much warmer.
Also I often get a cold back as the matress just isn't think enough when using the sleep system so the cold from underneath comes up.

Had my nash ss4 for just a few weeks before selling it. Worst bed i have ever owned left me crippled had to get help packing up and go home after 1 night of a 3 night trip the last time i used it .had a levelite els for years it sorted the back problem out but its not that comfy now i have put weight on its been a good bedchair otherwise .Got the new solar one on recommendations so will see how that goes as not used it yet.

OPINIONS ARE LIKE BUMS we all have one

Is that the latest ss3 you're talking about Gerry. I had one was the worst , had to end early a 48 hour sesh because I could lay on the piece of ***** for more than 20 minutes. Destroyed my back. Couldn't get rid quick enough

The Avid Benchmark XL is the most comfortable one I've tried. I didn't think much to the Nash one.
The matress on the Benchmark is the closest thing to a bed. You just sink into it. Very comfy.
I got the sleep system and very happy with it. It's bloody heavy but I'd rather get a good nights kip!

Avoid memory foam in summer it's too warm.
I take mine off and put a helium 3.8 on for the summer few weeks.

I will do the same thing as I also the helium 3.8 I have used it on top of the benchmark over the winter and it was lovely.

I have the SS3 ,5 season wideboy and love it , I fish 12 months a year and find it very warm and supremely comfatable
May its because mine is a wideboy and not a standard , I also have the under mattress shroud , but as mentioned everyone is different

Nope, mine was the wideboy and hated it. Uncomfortable and not warm. The only other bedchair that was more uncomfortable was a JRC Stealth

Had the SS3 then a SS4, through a friend in the trade, were good but not perfect. A mate had a Flatliner, which I tried, then sold my SS4 that week for the Fox.
The Fox was far more comfortable, for me, anyway.
Its lasted well, and by the end of the year Ill buy a new one. Ive got my eye on the new Solar after mates have raved about it ( just the bedchair, not the sleep system ) If the SOlar doesn't suit me, Ill happily buy another Fox Flatliner kingsize, a lovely nights sleep.

Mine is the standard width one. I've used a wide it before and didn't find it comfortable tbh. As for those saying it's not warm at all, I don't get it. Plenty warm enough imo

Ive got the avid memory foam one and its very comfy - legs are a pain in the ass though, shame no locking mechanism on them to stop them flopping about when setting it up/taking it down but once up lovely.

Is there any need for a bivvy heater When using a decent bedchair sleeping system like the avid ?
Until now all my night fishing has been done mostly in the summer months , but there's so much good fishing to do all year !!
It seems a shame not to take advantage of it ....
So do you think I would need a bivvy heater along with a the sleeping system ..
I'm not sure there's much point as I'm sure bavy's leak heat like a sieve !!!

I do like the look of the new avid sleep systems and would like to try one of those . I'm don't think the sleeping bag would be as warm as the fox one though

I've been doing some research and the avid is at least £70 more than the fox flatliner . But to be honest that's not much of a concern when spending 250 / £300 anyway.

I have a compact size Trakker ELS for one/two nights and a standard size ELS for anything longer they have been by far the best beds I have ever owned, not the lightest bed even in the compact but weight over comfort is something I wouldn't sacrifice especially as I'm getting older, coupled with the Trakker layers 2 to 4 season bag I have which under the 4 season layer is the warmest I have been in any bag I've owned during the Winter never once woke up cold/feeling cold, my feet are the biggest problem I have always changed socks for bed but once there cold I'm done even hot water bottles in the past have never helped last winter or this one I haven't even had a need to get the hot water bottle out.
I had the SS3 when it first launched prior to the shroud being developed when it had the mesh webbing under the mattress, first cold night was the last time I used it and it wasn't even Winter just a cold draft blowing in the door I felt like I was in a sky diving simulator then Nash put out the shroud and wanted the punters to pay the price for it for one of their extensively trialed products

Each to there own on this one, I have lower back pain and find the wychwood tactical x with a sim perfect for me, I have an ancient trakker peachskin bag, keeps me warm in all weathers, decent base layer essential in winter.
This is a very individual choice, lots of different opinions and as usual Nash take a pasting on here. Can't argue about weight, size, comfort or design. We all make our choices. However the 5 season sleep system on the indulgences cannot be described as cold or draughty. That is simply not true.

I've got the exact same mat and it fits under the sleeping bag on my Fox Duralite fine. No issues zipping the bag back on at all

Used a Thermo rest for 20 years didn't feel the need after getting an Avid Bedchair. May get one again one day as they are good.
for me I have a wychwood tactical standard bedchair,sim and gardner Carp duvet compact.
I took the sim off for a couple of sessions on my last 2 sessions as I wanted to see what/if any difference it made....ive put it back on today. I slept OK on the 2 sessions I had without it but its so much more comfy with it on.

Been using a trakker levelite ELS for 3 years. Its just to firm and gives me back ache and shoulder pains. Most comfy ive owned was a fox flatliner by a mile. Its seem better days but its coming out if retirement next week.

The Ch08 was less hard and felt better for me compared to the Sp C-tech, the sp C-tech is a Top bed but the mattress is not for me, i prefer Trakker Levelite's high-density foam mattresses.
