Hi guys... Im looking for some good cheap chest waders, dont want to pay the earth as I wont be using them that much but would like them to be strong and supple so they roll down easy, allowing me to step in to them at night...

Vass 740e for me simply because they extend the ankle area so I can slip into them fairly easily, had snowbees and they were a nightmare to slip on. even two sizes bigger!!! Got Thompson waders I use down the river these are also hard to get on.

That is a very good point, if you don't know its best to get them a couple of sizes bigger if you are using them manely for putting on quick and not wearing for a long time.
Not good with a rod in one hand balancing on one leg fighting to get a boot on in the dark

Don't know if they are the best as I haven't tried every make but my Ron Thomson ones at around £50 have been good.
I would recommend them, for normal carp fishing avoid neoprene as they are tight and a mare to get on one handed.

been looking for a new set and had a look at the Vass today's - The 700E and the studded heavy duty and the 600 PVC chest wader... not really sure the difference though?

I have the Pro's and the Vass 740's.......they are basically the same and both very good. Save yourself few quid and get the Pro's

being a fish farmer i wear chest waders all day every day have found oceans to be the hardest wearing of all guy cottons arnt too bad either much more comfortable but the boots crack after a while

My mate has the Pros and he doesn't like them, says they're tricky to get on and off, which is weird as all I hear about them on here is how good they are! I've literally not seen one bad review on here.

I would suggest looking at the Snowbee Granite PVC wades. About £50 and are the only cheap waders available with a wading belt as standard. These help stop water rushing in if you step too far and are really important.
Vass waders are pretty much unheard of among those of us that wear waders for 100% of our fishing.
Ocean are used by the fish farmers and for a good reason. The Nova Deluxe is the one to go for from them. The 570 are hard wearing but the cut is not so good.
If you truly want decent waders, Simms, Orvis, Guideline and the revamped Hodgeman are the ones to look at...but expect to pay BIG bucks. Orvis breathable sonic sealed boot foots are £299 for example, Simms are £400

It seems so bud.
I've been using Vass for some years now and rate them very highly but have to say next time I'd go for the Ocean which by all accounts look identical but cheaper.

I would suggest calling a shop that sells to a lot of game anglers and is not at th3 posh end of the market (I.e. not Farlows!).

I could well be wrong but I don't see how material can be breathable and waterproof at the same time

Holes in the material are too small to let liquid water in. But, they are large enough to let water vapour out.

I recall a time out in the boat for a couple of hours whilst it was pissing down finding spots, putting down markers, baiting up etc. When I'd finished I was piss wet through. Ok maybe not all Goretex is equal but mine leaked like a sieve after a few hours in heavy rain. I suppose it could have been sweat cos I was in pants and t-shirt underneath but it's supposed to be breathable. Hood was drawn in tight so not rain water finding it's way in.

Ocean waders are the best I have used
If it's good enough for the trawler men it's good for us. Comfy, easy to get on, pocket inside for the odd bit of bait. The thin smok they also make is the absolute nuts

Pros are brilliant for the money , I'd like if they did a half boot model also for speeding up fitting during the night. The Vass half boots are so quick to get on but expensive compared to Pros and no better made.

In all honestly No. abit floppy, you can get them to stand don't get me wrong but Vass half boot design is better for speedy situations.

My favourite waders were the Prologic breathable ones. They were completely 'floppy' but I found them a breeze to step into and pull up. Sad day when they finally gave up the ghost.

Just sold some daiwa Chesties for £15 , they were alright , only thing was , sweated a lot in them , bought some Vass Waist waders , hardly ever go in past the waist anyway and now never sweat, they were £49 something
