A few years back on the Verulam angling club ticket their leather lake in herts (former home of roadless) did a crucian close to the British record also had some big tench, you could probably enquire.

It’s not in the area you mentioned but not very far away from bury hill to be fair. There’s Stockbridge pond on the farnham membership. Beautiful little lake in the woods, chock full of lilies in the summer and holds some lovely tench and crucian too

With the sad news that Bury Hill is closing I'm on the lookout for a new water to fish for tench and crucians. I have been visiting bury Hill for over 20 years and kept returning once or twice a year even after they removed all the lillies from the main lake. I've had a look at Marsh Farm but would ideally like something a bit more natural/picturesque. Not looking to catch monsters. Any suggestions in the Beds/Herts/Bucks/Berks area? Cheers.
