Welcome to the real world of working for companies traded on the stock market.
Same for me but a US company.
Shareholders love them or hate them - they bring financial security but it's not without its costs.
As teddybear said if folk don't like it they can move on.

There's vastly different types of shareholders mate, your not that daft. As said in post #1 about asset stripers in former and currently profitable, former state owned companies are rife.
We've had Brexit done now so we can take back control of Jonny Foreigner rinsing the UK, putting working Brits on the breadline

Foreigners rinsing the UK? No one made them buy British companies in part or whole?
Labour won't do anything different, the markets wouldn't like it and we all know what happens if they react.
What with Labour and Keith being so Blue the Left don't have a home anymore, that's what hurts the most.

Don't forget that the 'if people are in terrible working conditions and on sh** pay, they should just move on to somewhere else' mantra only applies if those people aren't moving on across the channel to find that better opportunity. In that case then it's 'get the snipers on the white cliffs' ...

I'm informed, [from 3 different posties who serve my area], the letters side of royal mail don't make enough profit, the parcels on the other hand are profitable, but not without competitors.
profits are what it's about these days.
my postie also says the postal service was started by none other than Henry V111 500 years ago.
she has been my postie for 23 years, she is quite happy with her salary, earns every penny as I see it.
the new regimes that are being attempted to implement,,, not so much.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head, my son is a postie he started there at 17 still there at 27 just about, I dont think he'll be there much longer he considered the voluntary redundancy offered to all the other week when they were all asked by email with the caveat that they would not necessarily get it, they had so many accept it they practically had to withdraw it as they wouldn't of had a workforce the following week which paints a picture of how most of the employees are feeling about the new implementations they're trying to force through most are happy with the pay that's not the issue.
There so understaffed at our local branch and they're looking at voluntary redundancies makes no sense, they've barely got a workforce now they're filling the shortfall by having to pay triple the rate of a posties pay to agency's to fill the shortfall in staffing levels, man in a van at weekends delivering a dozen parcels for a £150.00 notes a day not far short as twice as much as a postie gets at an hourly standard rate over eight hours.

They don't pay agencies triple the wages, that's absolute rubbish.
As an example mail sorters through the agencies in severnbeach have a basic salary of £11.99 meaning Royal Mail pay their staff £3.99 an hour? Oh andthe agencies have a 49p margin per hour.

Where will that come from?
Everybody deserves a pay rise, how will we fund it?
1. Assassinate successful people
2. 50/50
3. Call a friend
4. Pay everybody in the U.K. 50k
5. Shut schools and colleges down, make education irrelevant (that's you ****ed)
Any other ideas
They could also live in a communist country where the people get **** all and exploited for the minority who are filthy rich?

You will get that only when the adults in charge tell you that you can have that, come back in 2025. The business climate is killing us, or you can threaten to leave and take your chances

Not everyone does deserve a pay rise. Parliament is a key example.
There's money to be raised by a more balanced distribution of wealth.
Removal of non dom status / tax avoidance .
Proper taxation of multi billion companies who conveniently have offshore head offices.
There are solutions but the greedy at the top of the money pile aren't for looking at them are they?
