Moving on from my solar bed post. Has anyone used these memory foam toppers and are they any good? Would rather spend £100 on a topper than £500 on a new bed.

I sold my Solar SP -C MK 2 Wideboy sleep system as it started to sag even though one of the selling points is it wont and it was a pain to lug around due to size and weight.
Bought the standard solar Worldwide sleep system which was released this year. It comes with a 50mm mattress and I added another 75mm memory foam mattress I bought of ebay for £40 (cut it to size myself and slots under the bottom cover). Most comfortable bed I have ever had. It still weights good 6kg less then the SP - C and it closes with the extra mattress attached. Well worth doing imo
Something like the below. Cheap and works really well.

As per Braders post, I looked into this a while ago and there are lots of 'custom' makers out there for canal boats and van/motor homes. You might think they'll be expensive but when I was looking at one for my Trakker ELS it worked out about £60+P+P

Cheers, will do some research 👍🏻

What bed do you now have then, mate?

Get a sim. They are so versatile.
They add comfort and heat with very little weight.
I have transformed my Oval 365 and also bought my missus one for her Advanta sleep system for when she comes. There are many to choose from and genuinely upgrade any bedchair 👍

Yes, that one seems good, but it also has the fabric tucked in the frame. I have ordered a custom bed for the bedroom and some slack for your hips (and shoulders) is very noticeable. It reduces the strain from your spine and muscles.
I live in the Netherlands and Gimson advertises their sleep system for carp anglers with back problems. It has a tempur MF layer. I am going to try that one this weekend.

The only issue is on the bank, particularly in winter, when SIMS trap moisture between you and it leading potentially to a damp sleeping bag, which can be hard to dry when it's humid or cold. I guess it depends on the person too, hot or cold sleeper. When I 1st got my new Flatliner I tried it with the sim and then without, I didn't feel clammy without it, but I did with it, so stopped using it. Bags do get damp underneath anyway in winter but much more quickly with a sim ime. Having said that sims also make certain beds a lot comfier...trade off!
