Has anyone used these? How have you got on with them?
I'm looking for a reel to replace the SS25600s that I have on my 2.5 FBSs, nothing wrong with the SSs as such.
Fine with mono (once the right mono is found) but the spools aren't wide enough for fluoro and I don't want to use the Ultegra 5500 xtbs 'baby blues' I have languishing in the loft.
Bought them years ago when they first hit the market and never got on with them.

Read various reviews where the Whiskers are described as 'baby big-pits', perfectly matched for close to mid-range or distance feeder fishing .
Apart from weight how do they compare size wise to say Daiwa 5000 tournies?
I'd be happy to go 'retro' bomb-proof rather than blow 300 notes on a large feeder reel.
Are they capable of being used with 16lb tiger line without major coiling issues?

I use these on my 10fts. Use with either fluro and with braid. No issues. Currently got 18lb kontour on one set of spools and nice to use. Holds around 300m of line

cheers, guess I'll have to find a shop with them in stock and have a proper look, not a purchase to be made on a few pictures and a two minute you-tube vid.

I've been using them for a few years and love them on my 10ft rods. I use both 20lb Hybron and 16lb FTX fluro and no issues at all. Have happily used 20lb xline on them as well. Smaller, lighter and smoother than tournies, but i will say i've never attempted casting more than 50yds with that set up. Clutch is lovely, not too quick and most importantly for me, it tightens down mega tight for hit and hold at close quarters. A definite upgrade on SS2600 and GS4000's, which i've owned both.

I own Whisker 25QDs, Tournies & SS2600s . . !

Whiskers have been on my 10' set up for a few seasons now and I love 'em . . .def smaller and a lot lighter than Tourny 5000Ts, mine are loaded with Hybron 0.40 / 0.35 and they are smooth as butter . . .I do prefer the pimped QD drag on my Tournies tbf, the Whiskers benefit from carbon/ice washers IMO. You can also pimp the handle nobs easily as the stock ones are removable with a screw beneath the cap. . .they also cast well if you need to thump them - can easily do 100yds on a good day with 0.35 straight through . . .

Check out Fishernator.com for best pricing if buying from new . . .
