I currently use Muck Boots for my winter fishing. I have a trip over Xmas in Zakapone which can hit -7 with snow. As such looking for comfortable walking shoes for the holiday which I can use in my fishing also? Any recommendations? I hate cold feet

Edit: See There is a Muck Boot Arctic Pro range. Any comparison against the Arctic sport range for heat and maneuverability? I love my Muck boots (currently using Muckmaster) for ease of access at night time etc

I rate my Grubs Speyline (which have mega grippy and comfy vibram soles) and use them in winter wandering up and down the river . . .find them fine with hot-hands foot warmers stuck on the end of my tootsies but for a warmer variant Grubs Snowline has the same sole but thicker more insulated inner and neoprene upper . . .

I’ve got some decent Miendl boots. I do a bit of walking up on Exmoor/Dartmoor but took them to Norway last year in temps down to -12 and then add in the windchill. Worn with a thin cotton sock first layer and a decent pair of Angora socks and was warm as toast, and I do suffer with cold feet.

My mums family is from Sieniawa which is just outside Zakopane. Not a lot of people know that!

If you are looking for some quality walking boots have a look on Ebay at British army Altbergs, these are hand made, top quality, and can be picked up for a good price, pay attention to foot widths too. Alternately if you want to splash out buy new from the manufactures, they are in Richmond, they will measure you up. I think they do carry limited stock and a few sale items. You may find some German army Meindl ones on Ebay too. For the record i have had a few pairs of top quality boots over the years and these are up there with the best. To keep warm its all about the sock that you wear with them

I had some Meindl Air revolution lights, cracking boots and i did literally walk the soles of them, one came off on Scafell pike. The Burma is another cracking boot. Scarpa is worth a look too. If you are near a Go Outdoors they usually hold these two if you wanted to try some on, with the right sock 👍

I rate Meindls but think that walking constantly over hill & dale in cold temps is completely different to roving interrupted by static periods of fishing in winter. . .any amount of static time and feet (well mine do at any rate) will start to get cold & damp with walking/trail boots irrespective of expensive socks etc . . .quality, comfy wellies that you can 'walk in' over relative distance are a better compromise IMO as they're impervious to moisture and retain heat better when sitting on one's arse . . .

After some reviews I ended up going with Muck Boots Arctic Sport. Paired with some wool socks should do me just fine in snow and more then warm enough it seems for UK weather with the benefit of it being comfortable to walk in over the Pro range. I also got it for a very good price 😉

For me the main attraction apart from warmth is the ease of getting in/out which with boots at 1am on a January morning running for your rods is just not that viable.

Bit late now sorry! - but Tonale GTX's. Use them when fishing until the mud means I need wellies (still in Skeetex!)
