Hi I’m new to the forum
, I was hoping to get some feedback on bait boats.
Is it a general opinion they are a benefit to carp fishing and improve catch rates?
Is there a particular brand/ model which is most popular?
The features they have,I read about, echo, auto pilot/return, are they worth the extra cost?
Are there some that are easier to use than others? I’m not very tech!
Would like to hear from anyone that has a boat and get any views , good or bad !
I know it depends on questions like how often do you go fishing, what lakes do you fish the answer to these are not very often and mostly day ticket waters
For me it’s about improving and buying the right boat .
Is buying new or second hand the way to go ?
Any help and guidance would be appreciated.

Hi John, and welcome to the forum. I don't know the answer to your question because I don't own one. But if you go on the search button above, type boat into the search box and tick the box with tackle, it will pull up loads of previous posts on said subject.
One small point also, to help future searches, it only works well if things are in the right sections. This should be under the tackle section. You won't be able to change it, but one of the mods may do it.

I'm a rank amateur compared to most on here but do have a very basic Boatman baitboat with no gps, fishfinder or tech.
For me it's useful as allows me to drop bait more accurately than I could by casting (although that could be used an argument that I need to get better at casting!) It also allows me to drop bait in areas that I simply couldn't cast to eg under overhanging trees etc It's simple to use, just have to steer it out, drop the bait and steer it back.
It works well for me but it's not a magic tool that will improve your catch rate simply by owning the thing! You still need to work at it and if you have the techy addons understand what they are telling you. The additional cost of these would far exceed my abilities to use them so not worth it for me - maybe in years to come though?
I'm assuming you've already checked this but are you allowed to use them on the waters you fish ?

If you want to use a bait boat then do so. Im long past caring what others think of me so i use mine as often as possible.
Start of with something cheap and then get a Deeper Quest

Welcome to the forum mate I'll try and address your Qs bullet point, I've used a baitboat for decades where allowed, like others on the forum have.
1, Benefit, as already said, personal choice.
2. Improve catch rates, yes, they can get you to, and under features you can't, or may not want to cast too.
3. Brands, lots of them, as suggested do a forum search. My 1st 3 or 4 boats were 2nd hand Angling Technics, £300 quid ish each.
4. I could do without auto pilot/return as it can go wrong with no satellites, I couldn't do without a basic echo, again as I might be in places a marker rod can't get to.
5. Yes some are easier to use. The Deeper Quest seems to be getting rave reviews at the mo.
6. A question I think you missed, some to avoid. Given the cost I would not buy Carplounge again, I think the Toslon & Deeper are much better value for money and you're not restricted servicing wise if something goes wrong, but we're still talking near or over 2K.
Me personally, if not fishing big waters something like a 2nd Angling Technics Pro Cat with a externally mounted Deeper. While a Deeper is more basic it can be attached to the bait boat or used with a rod, or can be used on a new boat if you change BB, more flexibility. You'll get lots of different recs on boats only you can decide your budget and what suits personally
