Is it only me that has trouble with spombs breaking easily?
The last three I've had have failed. Two because the spring that opens up the spomb have snapped and one because the swivel snapped. Once these are broken, they're irreparable. It seems the price your pay for one of these things doesn't match the quality of materials.

A while back I found one with a snapped swivel and took it home to bin it, but decided to try drilling the non hinged fins and tieing on a long loop of 60lb mono with a loose swivel. It works fine.

I've never broken a spomb ever, or a dot spod, or a wolf tri-spod.
Thinking about it, I tend to lose them before wearing them out to the point of component failure lol

I brought a replacement spring from eBay for my last one that I broke the spring. Works fine against

I bought a cheap Chinese copy and that hasn't broken, I think the springs do break but other than that they seem pretty good.
I prefer a converted spod that returns nose first so easier to retrieve, and you can land a spod quietly.

I've never heard of a converted spomb that you describe.
Is it a conversion you do yourself?
