I'm a cinematographer (glorified camera operator) in my day job, I've created content for huge brands in the outside world and I'm finally making time to start filming my other passion... fishing. Rather than just post what I want or try to replicate other channels, I want to hear from you, potential viewers who watch content regularly.

So I have a question, what do you think is missing in carp or any fishing videos on YT? What would you like to see?

the quality that korda, sticky, and many others put out is exceptional. theres some very good film makers out there in the angling industry and im not sure what you could do different.

esp/sticky do some great stuff with terry hearn. I like being taken on the journey,seeing things develope, seeing the hard work the anglers do over many months and finally the prize at the end....

I get bored far too easily - so can't bear sitting down to. 2 hour in session - nobody does it like Terry so they are the only ones I really watch and in a few sittings.

I think the trouble with carp content is ultimately it's a boring hobby - that means so many things to so many different people. I quite like the one man and a camera on his knee when it's a water I've fished. Ali and the screamers annoy me - as do those that have access to time and resources that a working person doesn't. Well done Darryl for the Grenville hit, but I have neither the time, dosh or access to throw near thousand pound of bait in a lake via a boat and cast ont it.

Anybody putting a double in a sling and photographing it in the morning needs shooting, I believe you - just let the poor thing go. One very prolific angling writer recently said he had unseen photos for his next book - really? For this chap I've seen every fish even 8lb commons over the year.

So - enough moaning what do I like - snippet type content, I really quite like Matt Collins, not fashionable but he explains his thinking and solutions, same as John Baker does with bait. With my attention span I would like content that mirrors the old magazine, a bit of elevated how to, a couple of session highlights and the at home blog bit on preparation, research etc.

Content now is ultimately advertising or an income stream, the content I miss and what is probably irreplaceable these days was a local society meeting, with a decent slide show and plenty of interaction, a beer pump, Smokey atmosphere and not a single baseball cap of set of white trainers in sight...

Get a copy of A Passion For Angling and sit in a dark quiet room and watch it through a few times. If you can bring the essence of that in a modern scenario you won't go far wrong.

Id echo that, a bit of old school common sense and humility, coupled with dialogue you'd use on the bank. None better at this than Mick brown imho

Make what you want to see in a video and there will probably be a market for it.
That, or use sex as sex sells apparently lol

As said greatest ever fishing program ever made passion for angling never beaten

And before that go fishing with John Wilson both the only thing they sold was the hobby no drum and bass or super rods just honest anglers with a passion for nature

I absolutely agree, a passion for angling really was something special.

So, if we take the essence of a passion for angling, add a liberal dash of John Wilson, throw in a handful of Terry Hearn, & finally a sprinkle of babestation, we could have the recipe for a perfect fishing video?

Edit - & going by your username, maybe add some Screaming Reels to the mix? I remember enjoying that unique show.
