Hi all,

I'm about to convert my garage and I'm looking for storage ideas/carp cave inspiration. Does your bed sit on the floor or does it have a shelf it sits on? do you have racking? rods hung up or stood in a corner?


I've wanted this space for ages but now I've got it I'm not sure what to put in it.

any pictures would be appreciated.

Can't do pics, but I do have a carp room that's about to be relocated to a garage as part of a house move.
I use heavy duty racking along one wall and several wall mounted bike hangers (see link below) on the other walls.

All the long stuff (rods, nets, brollies/bivvies, poles, retainers etc) goes on the hangers.
Big stuff (bedchairs/seats/barrow/bags etc) goes on the lower racking shelves and all the bits and pieces sit on the higher shelves.

Basically getting everything off the floor is the most efficient use of space.

I had a family of mice make a nest in my old bedchair and they made a right mess of it. I've got my current one hung up on ladder racks. I put some pipe insulation foam over the horizontal metal bars that support the roof and store some rods over two of them. I have several metal storage racks that keep all my stuff off the floor. I've also added a small wardrobe pole that keeps my coat, trouser, fleece and winter suit well aired.

Going purely on the title I would say keep them in water.

I use the same hooks as below, but I have bought some different ones from B&Q for different things.

I would also recommend a seal on the door to prevent rodents. I used a strip of old roofing felt. Bait in bins helps as well.

For storage boxes look at the black ones in Halford. Very strong, cheap and stackable.
