I'm looking for some recommendations for some warm comfortable boots for the winter. I've always struggled to find a decent pair that I get on with. Either don't keep feet warm or end up being uncomfortable. What's peoples thoughts? Have around £80-100 budget.

I think the reality is you need 2 pairs. You need something for when walking around, setting up etc. A decent walking boot and good socks will be fine. But if you then spend time static sat in the swim then an insulated boot is going to be better. But that style definitely too hot/not comfortable for wearing to be active in.

I've been using the NorthFace Chilkat for about 5 years now. They're waterproof walking boots but insulated for those periods of inactivity. Really good boots and you might find a pair within budget if you look around.

Google search will bring up old threads where its all been discussed to death before

Have a look at Columbia Omni heat boots. Around £80, these are without doubt the best boots I've ever had. Super comfy waterproof and extremely warm. I suffer really bad from cold feet being ex army and these have been a total saviour. They tick every box. Coupled up with a pair of Merino socks...just perfect. Hope that helps.

Agree with Ben - ideally you need two pairs for ultimate comfort - and a decent pair of socks (plus a spare pair). One for walking to swim / general activity the other for static bivvy warmth. There is nothing out there that does both effectively without either making you sweat (and then get cold feet anyway) or simply cold wet and uncomfortable due to lack of insulation.
My personal pref is decent wellies (Grubs Speyline) in the winter, paired with Bridgedale Merino socks, an additional pair of felt wellie liners and a pack of Hot Hands footwarmers. Mainly do rivers at this time of year (can think of nothing worse than being holed up in a bivvy for 16hrs of gloom) so generally yomp to a swim simply wearing the socks / add the liners once I'm settled and then insert the footwarmers if the cold is really biting . . .(footwarmers are a game changer - better than electric insoles and socks IME)
As wellies are impervious to wet/damp/cold/mud they are also low maintenance / quick to slip on and off and therefore IMO the best all round choice . . .
