Well I've found an area of soft silt, about 4ft deep at approx 50 yards, so far it's just produced tench, of which there isn't a large stock, can we assume this could also be an area worth sticking with for the carp? Is a good tench spot likely to be a good carp spot also? Or not. Tia.

I think the water is already telling you. Carp could force them out, but why wait for that. Then again, nothing is written in stone, this season i had a lot of weird sessions with large numbers of large ides, but every now and then big carp from the same spot.
Also curious what others have to say about this, it's one of those things.

Yes had plenty of tench from a spot primed for carp.

I'd definitely stick with that spot and bait it. From my experience carp and tench will feed in the same areas and sometimes you just need to fish through the tench until the carp arrive. On one of my syndicates this happens often, as does having multiple carp who then move off and you have the tench move in. Good luck

If you are not seeing carp on that spot id keep baiting, and go back to it when you do see them. No point waiting for the spot to come good when there are other areas they are feeding on now.

Thanks, yes my other water is the same, could have several carp, then it would go quiet, and tench would move in, hopefully it will produce, it's a nice area between two v shallow spots.

It's a tricky place, they rarely show for weeks, then have a crazy day or two, before they keep their heads down again.
It's not the type of water where they show on your spot, v frustrating tbh.
