Got the boatman actor boat. Is it possible to drop say a 7ft zig out of the rear hopper without it tangling?

you get zig release systems for them. Basically its a roller wheel with magnetic point that holds the hook. You roll the zig onto the spinner with lead in hopper. Once you open the hopper the lead weight spins the zig off the roller. Just do a search online there are few companies that does it for different boats

Loop the hook link so it fits in the hopper and gently tie off with pva tape. You can go 1step further by sticking the hook to the side of the hopper with a pva nugget so the hook is the last thing to leave but I found it worked fine without it, I do though tend to use a split nugget on the hook.

Are you talking about Actor Mk4i or Actor Plus? Mk4i is the only one with a rear hopper . . .not sure there are any aftermarket zig droppers for this

Yes the mk 4i. Can't find one for this specific boat. May have to DIY something if I can find a suitable spool

I seem to remember someone came up with something years ago using PVA foam nuggets
from memory they stuck 4 or 5 of them together & then wrapped their hooklinks around them with the idea that the hooklink would unwind when dropped & the foam floated up the surface.

If the hooklink tangled the foam would still float. PVA'ing loops of line to fit in the hopper could work but you'd need to dry the line between casts.

The rear hopper is a bit limited IMO and because the door opens to one side I'd worry about a coiled hooklink catching the door as the lead slides out of the hopper. What about using an adjustable and letting the shorter (eg 3ft) hooklink trail out of the back as you navigate to your spot . . ? If you keep your rod tip high / line tight then the link should hopefully not foul / twist around the mainline?

Bit Crude but it works. As I had most of the bits I needed it just cost me £4 for the bearings.
