Unhooking mat for the mobile anglers always used the thinking anglers mat which l think is great when taking the barrow on longer sessions but after one for shorter sessions when l'm just taking a couple of rods and a rucksack but still want something decent which offers good protection just in case l do catch one.

Something like the JRC Euro mat - you can carry the rods/net in it. over your shoulder

ESP roll up mats are great - they clip onto ESP rucksacks but I am sure you could create something to attach to others too.

Gardner XL mat.. it's the best I've ever used for mobile fishing.. zips up in half, I can carry loads of extras inside bank sticks, sling, bait, throwing stick etc.

I settled on the Cotswold carp roll up cradle. Folds up really well, is light and the sides can be pulled up to make a bit of a cradle.

Not had bigger than a 20 in it yet, but I've no doubt there is ample space for a decent sized 30 in it

2nd the JRC Matt, for river work I carry just this and a bag, the Matt hold rods, net sticks etc

I used to find the JRC Euro Zip Mat very versatile and well made.
Just a shame JRC hadn't developed some anti-rodent protection into it lol.

Used the euro mat good for pastie waters or stalking just doesn't offer enough protection once the fish go over the 20lb mark for me just not enough support not padded enough and no sides for a lively one

Used one for years just got a Sonik crib type bit bulky but that's the trade off for now might look at the quick draw see how that is

Should of renamed it the Jrc euro mat holdall. Used to love mine for carting round kit for a day session. Mat over me shoulder rods in the other hand. Always found the padding more than adequate myself.

Its very very large to use for Roving etc for Carp (Okish when folded up in its storage bag, not small thou).
If you can still get the smaller version, that might be better.

Called Nash H Gun Multi Mat (IMO better than Korum one i have also). Small zips at bottoms for releasing fish. Top sections velcroed strips all around, fish in mat, throw both top halfs together, fish trapped in like a giant Cornish Pastie. Keeps a bit of a cradle shape, but can get in & flatten, to stradle a Pike.
Dwarf Mat above, Zip on Top by looks.

Best mat ive found for what you want is the aqua self inflating mat.
