As per title, anyone have experience of Free Spirit multi section Travel rods ?
I'm thinking about a couple of Carping trips by air and wanting a pair of rods that I can fit inside a large suitcase.
I'm wondering what the action is like on the CTX 10ft six piece in particular.
I know they also do a 9ft four piece,butif I go that route I would probably gwy the very rwasonably priced NGT rods.
So, anyone tried the above, or any recommendations for travel rods ?
I would add that I don't envisage needing to fish at further than medium range, say margins to maybe 60 yards ?
As usual, I have to buy sight unseen, as I live in the U.S.

From what yr saying ,take a look at the RnR...S mid carp either ,in the rod n reel combo or travel tubed .
They are a great company, just read the reviews...

If you buy a multi piece travel rod be very careful with checking the joints near the tip of the rod when fishing. The can easily work loose, and then break if put under strain. Salmon anglers of then use some electrical tape on the joints to avoid this.

I've got a pair of 9' (4x piece) CTX travel rods and used them sea fishing off rocks / pontoons in Croatia last summer. TBF I was considering the 10' six piece however I didn't want a 3lb+ tc rod albeit the pack down size being preferable and wanted a slightly softer rod for float fishing / spinning / versatility etc . . .
They are excellent little rods IMO and have a decent action / quality components. Caught a few decent bass (and other unrecognisable fish) with them and they performed admirably. Used my SS2600s reels on both, one with braid for lures and the other mono for fishing heli rigs on the bottom . . .they handled a 3oz lead with ease
Have now gone travel mad and bought a compact tripod / rucksack / dinky stool / some other bits in readiness for my next summer abroad. They come in a very protective hardcase so easy to lob in a suitcase / store when not in use . . .

Thanks for the input. I am leaning towards the 9nft CTX's, although the 9ft 4 piece NGT rods would make more sense from a financial viewpoint, as I don't envisage using them very often...

No idea about the NGT rods (although do have some other NGT luggage bits that are great) . . .my view on rods is (apart from perhaps Korum) buy cheap buy twice!

Yeah, normally I would agree, but I imagine my fly in trips will be few and far apart.
The trip I have in mind is to South Carolina, about a 12 hour drive.
I'm still not 100% decided on flying over driving.
Of course, flying would save a couple of days of my valuable time off, whereas driving woyld mean I could bring whatever gear I want.
My host for the trip says he has bait sortd and is quite happy to act as chauffeur .
Decisions, decisions.
For what it's worth, the air fare and fuel costs are quite conparable, little between them.
Good job I have a couple of months to make my mind up !

I have the 11ft version of the NGT rods. The profiler. For a budget rod, they are ok actually. the 11ft are also a 4pc. Very enjoyable parabolic action.
Something to look out for - the reels seats are sz 17 - so, your reels may not fit.

Thanks for that. I plan on using my Baitrunner OC's, so the reel seats should work.
I wish the 11ft rods would fit my suitcase, alas too long.
Trying to consolidate into one case, to avoid excessive fees....
