Hi everyone not sure if this is the right place to ask this in the forum but can anyone recommend a good weed rake and rope for it. The last one I had the rope snapped when pulling weed in.

Quite a few of us on my syndicate use rakes, all of us use Jakes rakes. We also have a couple of syndicate rakes of the same make, a 12" and a 48". They are ideal for the likes of canadian pond weed, but not so good for lillies.

I got a 12inch Jake Rake ...as mentioned by Ged,what's good about these rakes is if your rake head gets stuck on an underwater snag,the teeth bend to allow the rake to come free..I'm not suggesting they are weak ,in fact they opposite..
I think the man who makes then designed them this way and to be easily lined up as regards the teeth..

have lost a couple of bigger expensive rakes over the years on snags & boulders so I have used one of these for the last few years.

attached a cord & it sits in a pocket of my rucksack. very light & makes short work of any marginal weed with a few short, sharp pulls to cut the weed near the base. been a game changer for me

If you can drill a hole in the back end and attach the cord from that end first or buy one with 2 holes in it
Then use a couple of cable ties to then attach to the front end you can trip it if it becomes wedged as it pulls in closed.
Usually weed isn't enough to trip the cable ties.

I made my weed rake over thirty-five years ago out of two garden rake heads wired together back to back. I've never felt the need to replace it with a readymade version. Although those rakes that you could aquaplane out on a long pole nearly tempted me.
