Glad I got my custom Barbel landing net from him this summer then. Been using his Carp nets and bank sticks for years. Hopefully they will carry on with the same quality and good customer service.

Good luck to Chris, if he's retiring I hope he enjoys it, that's a long time making people happy

This might explain something. I recently recommended CB to my brother who was after a new net. All the stuff I've had from Chris has been spot on. My bro bought one and the finish was nothing less than shocking - scratched ali, glue overspill, loads of varnish defects... it really was poor. I told him to complain, which he did, and he didn't even get a response. Not even an acknowledgement.
I now feel a bit of a you-know-what for recommending him.
Who knows if CB had already stepped back a this point (it was only a few weeks ago), but it might explain the absolutely huge change in product/service quality.

Not a chance Chris would send anything out sub standard . It would not have been his work. I will speak to him if you let me have name of buyer.

Hi any update on getting the net resolved? Interested in a second net (already have a CB carbon) but worried now that the quality is not up to the same standard as before.

I must admit as much as I love my chris brown nets, I thought the finish on them was very poor and mine are easily over 5 years old. The epoxy finish on the whippings was really bad and there was quite a few big scratches on the pole. Still love the nets though.

I saw your post in '22 tbf mate. Similar issues but my brothers is worse. He knows the net will last a lifetime but that's not the point as I'm sure you'll agree

Chris stepped back years ago. I got a Phil Andrews set up from him in 2021 I believe, and he certainly wasn't in the factory every day. I'm sure in the last few years he has merely been collecting items for those who were picking up from his home. On other occasions, I've collected from the factory workers themselves. Fingers crossed the quality stays the same, but if my last set of banksticks are anything to go by, and it pains me to say it, people need to stock up on Araldite.

I'll never give up my buzz bars. My old man calls it "scaffolding" despite the money he's spent on all sorts of mass produced quik lok QC QD twist lok ***** over the years.

Quality lasts, sadly some things don't stay the same forever.

similar recent experience, the screw connectors from my 2 piece landing pole need glueing back in as they started twisting then eventually have come out
