Travellers.
Anyone else noticed a massive increase in them taking up fishing in recent years? A local club of mine has seen a large amount join, and as a result the marking of cards and bans has also increased. Fishing out of bounds, fishing without night permits, fishing day only waters, every stroke possible pulled. I know of 5 that have been banned on one water already since the six weeks holiday.

Are you sure they are travellers? All i have met dont give a fcuk about rules. Im surprised they bothered to join the club. Would have thought they would just poach it.

I was thinking the same. Must be a better glass of " do what they likeies " round your neck of the woods..
Good and bad in all walks of life I suppose. A mate of mine had a couple of travelling folk walk on to his syndicate water. He was the only one on at the time. And preceed to start fishing. He told them that it was private property and they would have to leave. They spoutted of that they new someone who new someone and that someone's uncles aunt had given them permission to fish. After a few heated words and fearing it all might come on top a quick phonecall to the syndicate leader. Back up arrived and they were sent on there way. My mate was meant to do another night but left early fearing a return later on that evening. The lake in question was right on the M25 and had a long history of trouble with travellers.
Travellers have always liked a bit of fishing pike,perch, trout if they can fish for them. But most of what they catch ends up on the table.
Maybe the club in question should be a bit more selective in who they let in. Not letting anyone in with an Irish sounding name.. ( that's me ****ed ) Or there address is in a caravan park..

I fished a club with a traveller lad years ago, he was good as gold but always up to mischief!
On two separate occasions (once when an old girlfriend was staying for an overnighter) he came and slept on the floor in my bivvy as he was hiding from the police. If memory serves one time it was in Feb, it was bloody freezing, no sleeping bag!

found a lovely quiet stream that was only accessible through a friends garden, had some lovely chub last winter from it. The local traveller lot smashed down the fence protecting the far bank from access and began fishing it, ruined, untold litter, tree branches snapped etc, wot be returning

Why was he sleeping on the floor cos round my way, they sell " New Mattresses" from the back of a white van 😂. " Look madam, new mattresses, Look at da price tag, 800 pound, but ya can have it fa 200 " If you remove the cover you'll reveal a knackered yellow stained mattress re - covered in a back street unit somewhere. Scrotes !
