how long do you keep pop ups amd wafters for and still be happy to use them. I use Dna and more than happy with their products. lately they've been putting best before stickers on their pots. I've got a couple of pots 2 years old plus and still using them and quite happy with them.
But how old is too old??

I don't think you'll ever know. You could blame their age after a series of blanks but you could just as easily catch next time out, that's how it goes sometimes.
A cynic might suggest that putting best before dates on them ensures regular product turnover so the only way to give yourself peace of mind is use freshly rolled, non preserved baits I'd say.

I know mark says specialised do but they're cured as apposed to just a pop up mix...I can't see why normal pop up/wafter mix would be affected, maybe buoyancy if not air tight.

For as long as I think they smell o.k, not sue why as I'm not a fish but there you go. I suppose I'm more suspicious thinking of fishmeal or oils going rancid but in truth that's all I do, think it and still use them, who's to say rancid oil or the changed constituents thereof aren't a
attractive to fish.
How long, at present I have some Proper jobs from 2017 and before buying some new ones this year I think my S7 were 4 or 5 years. I recently threw away my 13 year old Dynamite Banana Nut Crunch.
I don't really see pop ups as needing to be that attractive, if they're near a food signal they should provoke a response just for that reason, think fake mixers of the surface or fake corn on the hook and I can always add or boost any flavour.
Having said that I don't fish hard waters at present or use food bait pop ups, I might be more cautious with them over what I call BOG standard pop ups (within reason).
Oh yes...and...bbb on baits

Says BEST before not use by. Nothing wrong with them years past that date, if in doubt chuck a bit of your chosen flavour on them once a year or a bit of Korda Goo.
For me it's about colour not flavour or smell anyways.

it's not sure much smell or flavour but the way the bait may act I.e losing buoyancy etc

Can't see that being an issue on any type of pop up, I've used and still have 10 year old baits that stay up over 24 hours.

If stored in a dry place perhaps pop ups get more buoyant with age?

I don't think so, some wafters do though.

It probably has something to do with some eu law that food even pet food has to have a BBE date.
But as well all know best before isnt the same as a use by 😉

I'm not at all a commercial pop up expert, but the most successful pop up I have had it's been the 15 mm solar black & blue esterblend12. The tube last me over 15 years (don't use it very often
) and it become better at the end than when they were brand new. I think that I cought almost with the every lasts remained that when there weren't anymore I'd liked to have bought another tube at the time.

Until they don't smell right ie rancid oils..or sink.
Was going through my pop-up box last week, 50+ tubs and bags- shop bought, home made corkballs & wafters,- ten years since any were last used and I won't be worried about using them.
