Might sound old fashioned here, but iv been out of the day ticket fishing for a fair few years but there is a great venue i visit when free but i turned up nice and early last weekend to fish only to be told i now must use the catch app to book and pay , another bloody app to use!!!! anyway after looking on the app all the pegs were booked but there wasnt anyone there in the swims at 7am , then i looked at the price , its now £30 for 24hrs !!! price was £20 last time i fished and payed on the bank ! i started looking more at the app and read you can pay monthly to join the app aswell for £20 for 6 month hassle free booking! well i dont think this hassle would be there if this app didnt exist, what ever happened to making the effort to get a swim early in the morning to get a swim and pay on the bank ? shocked this app exists just to make more money out of anglers to to book a swim ! shocked , sorry for the rant

£20 per 24hrs are long gone.

£30 or even £35 is the norm around my way.

I absolutely despise the Catch App,in fact I now will not visit some places I've fished for many years ..

Including the appalling SWLT ,Catch thing...soulless,money grabbing, totally against the freedom and ethos of angling ..horrible..!

You and the fish are just pawns in a bigger get rich plan.
The farmers get naff all from the supermarkets so diversify into yet “another” commodity
Covid prices?? Someone will always pay it.

Glad I'm not alone , I actually looked on there to see which fisheries to boycott next ! Fishing is starting to feel more industrial year on year

Most of the anglers I spoke to at the venue all said the same , “the price went up when the catch app appeared” lining the apps pockets

Two of my friends have recently set up dayticket waters and on both the anglers have to book using an app, I'm pretty sure they don't use the same app, I've no idea how many of these apps exist?
I assume that owners like these apps as the money is collected in advance and without them (or anyone else) having to even be present at the lake?
Personally it would urk me for some app geek to be making a living off the back of my hard work and investment, it's also why I'd always phone a takeaway directly rather than use an app.

The problem I have with it is that it's sold to the fishery owners as a way to take away the admin and hassle from collecting day tickets. So shouldn't they absorb the booking cost, rather than it being passed onto the angler? I know a few that have stopped using it, or still allow regulars to pay on the bank.....

Just stop going. If people stop paying these ridiculous prices they will have to become more realistic. Supply and demand, it's basic economics.
If you cant afford waitrose prices shop at lidls. If everyone did it waitrose would have to change their business .model or go under.

That would be logical. Perhaps, I honestly don't know, the app people advise the owners to put their prices up because "everyone else is"?

Personally I love the app format works very well for me knowing I have the swim I want for the hard to find time I have works a treat.
