Im a running rig guy and have been for 20+ years with the odd dabble with lead clips. Im not into rigs (can you tell? 
) and have alway kept things simple with light leads. I dont really want to get involved with leaders unless i have to, but I fancy a change, and so looking to try naked chod, and have a few questions.
Will the Korda naked chod rig kit grip 0.33mm dia line sufficiently to work?
Is there a better kit to use than the Korda?
Is there a way of using this rig without putty (i hate putty)??
Does anyone use naked chod to target other species (specifically on river)?
.... and possibly the stupid question .... does anyone use a Spinner/Ronnie sliding on the line as the hook set up.

The Korda naked chod kit is the only one I use. The bottom buffer bead protects the line when playing fish. There's enough grip there on 15lb line for it to stay in place on the cast.
Unless you can find away of counter balancing your hooklenght without putty.. Short lengths of leadwire pushed into the pop up maybe. Or even them korda counter weights that sit on the swivels or maybe some form of tungsten bead. I've always used putty.
Never used the rig on flowing water. Can't see a reason it shouldn't work in a medium flow.might get a bit flighty if it's pushing though.
Ronnie section on the line. Again can't see a reason it would work. Basically just a low lying chod.

Set one of my rods up naked style recently and had good success using it in France. 16lb Tiger Line, 2oz kind of distance lead attached by a quick change swivel. 7 inches rig tubing and then a korda line saver bead. The actual chod itself is attached by a korda quick change round swivel so that i can swap if needed but i also use a small nash tungsten swivel bead so i dont have to use putty. All finished off with a naked chod system with a no trace bead so the rig can slide over in case of a cut off.
Naked setups have a tendency to lift scales so I prefer a leader, a tapered mainline would work better than a thin mono

ive heard that before, but in 20+ (actually 30+) years of using running rigs without leaders/tubing .... i have never lifted a scale

- Yeah works fine, have used with 12lb Kontour and thats 0.33 I believe.
- Its probably the best tbh
- No needs putty really unless using them swivel weights and the swivels to match them

- its called the Roddie and I guarantee youd bump 80% of fish off because they would be so lightly hooked and lead would bounce it out

I have to agree. The chod is invaluable as a rig but it has plenty of flaws. The roddie takes all of those flaws and amplifies them significantly. I cannot get my head round why anyone would use one.

I agree with Yonny, absolutely nothing about it makes sense if you've got even a basic understanding of rig mechanics.
