Buying one for the old man around the £50/60 bracket. Something that can handle fish upto 8lb. I've seen the latest korum all rounder and it's not that nice so that's out. Any suggestions anybody. Cheers

Is he fishing on a lake (stillwater) or river or canal and will it be used with a pin or fixed spool ?
If river I'd be looking for a longer rod (if he's doing any long trotting for example)
I would look on eBay for a greys toreon or prodigy they are nice rods or drennan.

I was looking for a cheap rod to convert into a swing tip a year or so back and the Shakespeare Omni rod got very good reveiws beating rods twice it's price, which is £30 or less. The colour is a bit love hate though if that bothers.

Drennan Puddle Chuckers. Think they call them Drennan Series 7 Rods.
Excellent quality and lots of variants in the range. Carp wagglers are my favourite rod but I have a feeder and Drennan Crystalite too.
Pick them up 2nd on Marketplace !!!! Don't buy the newer Drennan Red Series, they dropped in quality.

I picked up a korum phase one a few months back. £29.99 and I've had a few carp on it up to about 10lb. Handled them very nicely.

Have to agree mate, got the series 7 10ft puddle chucker, a superb light small river rod for chub. The red range are pants in comparison, though I do like my acolytes 👌👌👌

Another vote for the Korum phase one. I use it with a black shadow reel, a very nice combination. It coped admirably with the best fish on it so far; just over 12lb,
