Depends on the situation but a a very good all rounder 12lb GR60 has to be on the short list, great knot strength, great abrasion resistance, been around for decades and still doing it

I've been using the pro line (12lb light blend) for the last 5 years, it's really good especially for £12 a spool. The heavier weights don't seem as good, but in 12lb it's supple, casts well and sinks well.

We have to use Hydrotuff on our syndicate.
Have grown to really like it. I use it wherever I fish now.
Seems really obvious to say, buts it's soooo tough....

Used to use Hydrotuff about 5 years ago and found it great. GT-80 is supposed to be that and more though so not sure.

Apologies for the thread hijack, would anybody know how the hydrotuff behaves in comparison to the synchro XT. I'm after a really abrasive resistant line that won't cast like a bag of spanners.

I use the gangstar mono from ashima for this. Cast well enough and it has high abrasion resistance. In my opinion it cast slightly better than synchro xt

Funnily enough, I used XT before we had to use Hydrotuff.
XT you'll cast further, however it's not as ‘tough' in fact, no where near.
Most of us fish comfortably at 30/31 wraps with hydrotuff. Anymore without a massive wind behind you is a big ask.
For the sake of £13/£14 I'd give it a go and see.....

what about the gr60x i will be buying a spool of that to try out, supposed t be more supple than the original gr60 and more abrasion resistance. looks like a decent candidate.

Not sure where you'd heard that but it really isn't. The x version is more wiry . It's nowhere near as good as the original stuff

GR60 isn't wiry at all, soak in water before spooling up then after a few casts and fish it becomes very supple almost takes on a silk like mat sheen.
Others maybe as good or better but after years of using and trying a few others like hydrotuff, chameleon, tiger and X line I've always went back to 12lb green GR60 because it just works.

I just read it on the JRoss website , its what gardner say about the line. ive not used it personally. Not sure i will now though

My favourite is the GT-HD. I used it for a season in 12lb and it was great. Because of a rule change I went over to synchro which I absolutely hated and was a complete disaster. I've recently re spoiled up again with the GTHD in 15lb. Only been out with it once but it seems just as good as the 12lb was so far.
