Nothing to do with fishing but I want some good quality socks, not for working on a building site or anything like that, just socks for everyday wear.
I don't want long socks, I want ankle socks, they need to be thin and lightweight rather than thick and most importantly they need to last.
The ones I've been buying from supermarkets and M&S don't seem to last 5 minutes.
Should I carry on buying them and accept because they are cheap I won't get many wears from them, it is annoying though putting clean socks on in the morning only to find holes in them.

Have a look at Decathlon Quechua mate. I only tend to wear ankle socks once it gets warmer and the Decathlon ones are brilliant for breathabilty and wear. I tend to buy a few pairs at a time, think I bought 5 last time round and they're well over 5 years old. Better if you could go in and some are thick and some very thin, some breath better because they're designed that way, loads of choice
I don't know the exact sock but one of them is ultra thin and breathable, ideal for holidays in hot countries.

When I said ankle socks earlier I'm talking about short socks, the ones that go just over the ankles.
Not those trainer type socks that you can't see when you footwear on.

Darn Tough 1/4 length hiker, will last a good while and they will replace worn out socks foc. I've used them for 10 years or so and wear them day in day out, work, pleasure and fishing.

Smartwool socks are the only socks I've worn for ten years now. Amazing socks. Wouldnt wear anything else
Got me covered from winter mountaineering to work to the gym. Every sock you can imagine. Keep an eye out on sportspursuit for good deals as well as other places 0,

Socks? I'm your man....Currently have around 40 pair,all plain,all materials all colours and some expensive ones to boot....about 6 pair for fishing...
TBH I've never found a pair to last more than 3 or 4 weeks,not that their unwearable but just don't feel or look as good.Merino wool,cotton,textile mix all the same....
Just wash them inside out,and fold 'em,not rolled up together.

My friends brought me over some Columbia ankle socks from the States a few years ago and they are brilliant, in fact I bought four more pairs when I was there last year, they're not the thinnest but have slightly thicker ankle and toe sections for wear I guess, I have bad veins in my left foot from a bike accident a few years ago and should really be wearing support socks or stockings in that foot at least and these give me good support for that, I'm pretty sure you can get them here if you look around

As an alternative to merino wool - bamboo socks, you can get boxers also , they are very soft, breathable, wick away moisture but most importantly hypoallergenic (so they don't get smelly) offering antibacterial properties.
