Glad the forums back up!...I've used the search bar and found some recommendations for sinking braid but I've never used braid and my syndicate allows it...and due to the weed I'm looking at a braided mainline instead.
I'm not sure I'll get on with it though so am a bit reluctant to spend mega money at first...but think I'll go down the TA SBX route eventually. My question is are there any cheaper alternatives people of tried that aren't horrendous so I can see if I can get on with it? I see NGT do a real cheap one but I can't imagine this being any good?

Following as also interested to see what others say about SBX and if you can cast it a reasonable distance!
I was talked in to getting the avid braid when I decided to use braid for the first time last year.
I've got on really well with it so far. Haven't heard much negativity about it either from anywhere. Seems to be quite popular too.

Honestly just get the good stuff. Cheap braid is horrible to use.

Yeah I will if I like it, it's more if I get on with it than anything, don't wanna spend £100+ if I'm just gonna take it off again and not use it. And also expensive doesn't always mean better.

Just bought a few spools on offer online as I need something a tad thinner to get some extra distance. Used the noir for years and it's been great but have been recommended the avid stuff by a few close friends that rate it highly. £50 for 600m you can't go wrong for a start.

Has anyone else had problems with the sbx braid sinking. I have gardner noir on one spool and sbx on another and find the sbx doesn't want to sink I would say it's harder to sink than esp syncro mono and the gardner braid sinks like a stone. I have wet the sbx before casting out but still doesn't really help and also had a few frap ups with the sbx. Wondered if i am doing anything wrong the spool is not over filled either the reels are 5000t. Will say the sbx is unbelievably tough I have straighten a few hooks pulling for a break after getting snagged reeling in.

I've used SBX for the last year or so and have found it to be one of the fastest sinking braids I've ever used. Almost like flouro it goes down so well. I came from the normal Hydrosink and it definitely sinks better than that.
Could it have got oily from bait or something like that? I've found this can really affect the buoyancy of braid.

Is the braid new? I had this exact same issue but after a few sessions the SBX started to outperform the hydrosink noir on my other spools. I think the SBX takes a few uses before it starts to perform properly.

Thanks Andy and Beyonce maybe I'll walk it out and reel in through with a wet cloth to make sure there's nothing on the line. Andy the line is quiet new I wonder if it comes with a coating on or there's some residue on it from new which is why it doesn't sink as well to begin with.

You can have sinking issues with any of the braids if there is algae / green water present
