Soooo I'm looking for something a bit obscure .... A pair of shorter rods (under 10ft) rods to use from my boat on a smallish river targeting quality size silvers, chub (rare barbel/carp) in winter months (general all rounder really). 1lb test curve sounds good all rounder for my needs and I don't really want a quiver rod

Are 6ft Dwarfs/Scopes a genuine 1lb test curve or does the shorter length make them far stiffer when in use (I bought some retractable for my carp fishing in the past and they were like poker sticks in comparison to stated test curve, hence my wariness)

Idk about the scopes, but a nice spinning rod, 10-20 grams, can be very versatile.

8ft Fox Warrior 15g to 40g lure rod will be right up your street. Had used it lure fishing (obviously) for mid double Pike, stalking Carp to 20lb, and on tiny Kentish rivers for anything that swims.

If it helps, drennan used to label lure rods with a test curve - the 8ft was always stated as 1.5lb, the 7ft as 1.25lb and the 9ft as 2.25lb

My pal has an 8ft spinflex one and it's nice - not too stiff for perch, plenty strong enough for double figure pike.
I have a 9ft series 7, it's strong enough for any barbel but way too much for perch or silvers.

My favourite 1lb tc rod is a greys prodigy tx (but it's 11 ft) It's quite an unusual rod, the top 3rd of the action is very soft and forgiving, but further down it's powerful. I think it's rated to 12lb line which is very unusual for a light rod.

There is an abundance of lure rods that can be purchased for sub £40 and are really good value, the Ugly Stik range from the US is virtually indestructible.

thanks folks .... I have found a shop with a set of 3 Dwarfs 6ft 1lbs (ill get one as spare as Nash have discontinued them) so have gone for it ... I think they will be perfect from the boat in winter ... If not, i dont think it will be too much of a "hit" if i find unsuitable and need to sell on.
