What a con...
On top of bait ,food ,fuel and all the other sundries,you have to pay a booking fee ,I don't want up to the minute info ,or the colour of the owners wife's knickers,I want to fish ,.. this will put a lot of people off fishing certain places,on top of all the other essential living costs ..day to day living etc..
So,whilst I still can ,I shall avoid as much as possible, any venue,no matter how desirable who do this rip off Catch App..

Thing I don't get is owners use it because it takes away admin and hassle - so shouldn't they absorb the cost as it makes their life easier?

Yup...only thing one can do is not fish those places ,you two guys froth,and L jenks,know exactly what I'm on about..I mailed a certain new fishery manager,asking what about those ,who don't want to use ,or don't use modern tech you can book pay on the phone ,but I guess you still have to pay a booking charge..

It's not the cost - considering the cost of a bucket of munga 2.49 isn't the end of the world. It's the way we're having to pay for the “convenience” of an app when it wasn't inconvenient before lol. It's like a 25% price increase for somewhere like Jennetts
I think you can still buy in the tackle shops and online at the mo tho

I agree, it's a complete rip off, but for me not nearly as off putting as the waters that insist you use there bait... Which is always £££s more than any others.

What happens if you pay for 24h then decide to stay another night or 2. Are you charged another £2.50 every time you increase your stay? I personally don't like to commit to a long stay and buy tickets by the day.

My favourite fishery went down the go Catch route - I haven't been there since! I struggled to get it to work anyway but I did e-mail the fishery owner and tell him of my frustrations and the fact that I had since booked a lot of autumn sessions on another complex.
He did write back and said he was sorry but apparently it cost thousands to run his on-line booking system and he saw it as a way of avoiding that. I have noticed that there are far more available slots on his fishery than there used to be, so possibly not the outcome he was looking for!
The lot that run Go Catch do sound like a pair of flashy fly boys and they won't be getting any my money if I can help it.

Can anybody explain why the UK doesn't have a system like in france, holland etc etc where you just join a local club and thereby get the right to fish wherever you want in a certain region? Money, ancient customs, something like that?

Probably because France has a lot more water than anglers! Can you imagine the queues at some lakes if they were all open access?

Lavender hall in Coventry is like that with the bait,I fished there in June done 3 days and tried everything for a bite found out the guys who run the tackle shop was telling people to buy 5 kilo buckets of their hemp and put the lot in which a lady in the next peg did,she never had a sniff even though there was fish around,me? I went the cautious route and decided bags and little and often yet still blanked mainly because I didn't know what I was fishing over and yes it was via catch app I booked it £30 a night plus the booking fee.
