Hi All, looking for a cost effective option for anti theft lights to put in the swim by the rods, essentially a sensor that when it detects movement will set of a light or alarm. NG Tackle do one but really you need the receiver for it. Fishguard also do one but its 300 plus. I think Fox are bringing one out in Feb 2024. Any recommendations for items that arent fishing branded that will do the job would be great - cheers

Makes me sad reading this!
Personally no matter how big or desired the carp may be - there's no way I'd be going to sleep fishing worrying about that.

A battery operated pir (passive infra red) alarm from b and q or similar is all you need.
I used to use one when doing 2 nights or more on dodgy park lakes.
Ideally one that will have a switch so it will just go 'ding dong' and not go into 150db alarm mode.
From about £10 on ebay.

If you have delkims they have anti theft in them so if some one turns the alarms off while your asleep the receiver goes into meltdown as such.
I fish a lot of public waters and I never have rods far away from my bivvy door I'm actually out now lake is next to a road but I fence my bivvy off with barrow and other stuff just to make it awarkward for anyone to get in my space,my rods in the swim im in are down a narrow slope in the water so I just need my waders and I'm off.
I just try and make it as difficult for people to access my fishing area as possible and trust no one when fishing and things can happen anywhere on any lake/river or canal always be on your guard

That works, but...
If your delk goes I to meltdown and you jump out the bivvy to find someone crouched down over your alarms then it's obvious they are trying to rob you. Then they either run away or pull a knife out on you...
With the pir sensor if someone comes into the space in front of your bivvy door and around the rods then the alarm goes off. The intruder then can "bluff" that he was just walking down to the lake edge or something, so the tackle is saved and a confrontation is averted.
I have had my alarm go off when a dog that's off the lead comes running over and goes by the rods.
Another plus, the whole area can be covered, so net, rods, alarms, all safe.

I would imagine it depends on area by that I mean space to put up all your gear ie:size of swim etc and yes it's still handy to have on you as people are still around at all hours of the day no matter what the weather is,I was at lavender hall in July and had some random guy just turn up in the dark saying he'd come to look at the place before he fished it so something like this would be handy
