Would you rather catch consistently all week in France but nothing over 40lb or blank all week and catch a 60 on your last night?

I mean, I'd just be happy to be fishing in France, so on that basis I'd take the lump over the quantity.
I'd be going to France to catch fish over 40lb in the first place, not necessarily for 'runs' so it's an easy decision for me if the fish is a 60!

It would have to be a very special 60lb target, and we're not just talking weight for that, so for me it's the former.
Driving all that way with all the effort involved to stay by a lake all week, not me anymore, irrespective of fish size, for me it's a fishing holiday not a fishing trip, just my preference

Off to France next weekend to a lake that has numerous 60's and 70's so i'd like to be catching them all week!

Everytime I go to France it feels like a competition of who can catch the biggest and who can catch the most.
Really spoils the enjoyment of the whole trip for me when you draw a poor swim and it feels like your up against it all week.
I wish I could just treat it as a holiday but I can't seem to get out of that mindset.

Just make sure you have plenty of socials. Always helps to pass the time if you are struggling.

To be honest I think that's the problem.
The more of us that go the bigger the competition.
Might try a solo trip.

My choice is without doubts for the second, but if I catch consistently carps under 40 I don't complain at all
The most important thing for me is that the fish will came from a public lake

The former.
In fact, I'd rather catch 5 pretty twenties from publics than a 60 with a name from a pay lake. I'll save that one for when i'm older.
It's a marathon not a sprint, I'm just enjoying the journey.

My primary target is to fish with like minded people, enjoy spending time with them, BBQ's, enjoy being on the bank without advertising board wannabes. The fish are very secondary to me and size means nothing

Agreed. A couple of my favourite trips have been with few carp caught. It was more about the company, including the hosts and general feel of the venue. When it's quiet, it does help that the fish caught are impressive, and that does not necessarily mean huge for me
