I'm trying to travel light and compact as possible and I need a spod rod my rod bag is about 4ft is it even ideal to use a short spod rod or should have to settle for a 12ft spod

Yes thats the one I recently bought not used it in anger yet but its quality and gets very good reviews

Sonik xtractor 10 foot retractable. If you keep an eye on home leisure (i think) on ebay you can get them really cheap. Mine was £35 posted brand new.

Brilliant little rod and I use this more than my 13' SLite SPM for ranges up to 100yds

I use the Scope 9ft 4.5tc spod rod. Packs down to exactly 4ft (44inches). Have it for the same reasons as you - and I'd recommend it on that basis. It's not cheap at £180, but it does the trick for me (I'm typically using it at around 80 yards, but can go further if needed). The Nash Dwarf 9ft spod packs down to the same size and is a lot cheaper at about £65, but I've not used it personally.

I have Nash Dwarfs that I use for spod and marker work.

I've just got the 9ft sonik insurgent, I've not used it yet but it seems decent and was only 55 quid from TFT.

If that's the darenth valley one I can highly recommend the 10' version it's a device,spod and marker rod all in one great piece of kit
