Tigers
Tigers
Sweetcorn.
And paste made of boiliemix of your choice.
Made up with an egg.
Advantage of paste is that it is easy to use a little ball say 10-15 mm but sometimes a golfball size depending on situation.
And you can cover your hook when fishing in debris.

Worms, pellets and paste and sweetcorn.
Not forgetting dog biscuits if I can get them feeding on the surface under the rod tip

I'd not be so concerned about the bait, but where I put it.

I'm not sure the choice of bait matters, depending on how you stalk, if your going to flick baits at fish, hoping they will take on the drop then , worms, bread, sweetcorn, maggots are all good in this circumstance.
My preferred method is to get fish feeding on a spot in the margin , then place a rig in once you've scared them off by flicking a bit of bait in. In this scenario any bait will do boilie chops, particle like maize or sweetcorn, tiger nuts, just be careful not to use too much small particle like hemp or pellet , in this circumstance the fish can get preoccupied and will not pick up a standard sized bait.
In my personal experience the biggest edge in stalking is to use a short hooklink 3 to 5 inches is perfect.

Cockles fished over hemp.
Usually float fished.
Totally underused and absolutely deadly.

Bread - best all round bait. Minimal fuss when it hits the water, you can fish it floating , off the bottom, naturally popped up.
It depends on the situation,I've had some tricky ones using swan mussels.
To me true stalking is finding a fish and casting to it or to intercept it. For this I have found nothing compares with worms for consistent results.
